The MPV is dead, long live the MPV!

The Volkswagen Multivan is proof that there might yet still be live in the MPV formula.

Rumours of the demise of the MPV have been greatly exaggerated. Sure, the popularity of this once-popular bodystyle - one focused on ultimate practicality - has been seriously on the wane due to the incessant rise of the SUV, and many models have disappeared as a result. But, the new VW Multivan proves that the genre isn’t quite dead yet.

The Multivan is the successor to the Caravelle, an MPV that was based on the Transporter van. However, the new car shares much more with the Golf underneath than it does with any commercial conveyance. It also happens to look the absolute business.
