8.234 -> There was a lot of choice if you wanted
a VW convertible a few years ago.
12.217 -> There were the Golf convertible and this Eos.
They're different.
16.036 -> This one has a steel folding roof, with a sunroof
that opens as well. Quite luxurious.
23.673 -> The Golf convertible has a fabric top.
That's something different.
28.032 -> This is a coupe and
a convertible combined; a CC.
32.871 -> There's a wide variety of
engines to choose from.
35.116 -> There's only one diesel, but there's also
a 3.2 V6, creating a sort of Golf R32,
42.634 -> but with a roof that opens. That's nice.
46.561 -> Only a few of those are for sale, so we
won't pay a lot of attention to these. Unfortunately.
51.818 -> ENGINES
gasoline, diesel
60.393 -> Speaking of which... There are
over 100 Eos for sale on AutoScout24.
64.757 -> Only 12% is a diesel. It's not a very
logical combination, a diesel convertible.
70.656 -> Although, with the top closed,
you can drive quietly.
75.435 -> If you hate shifting gears yourself,
you'll have to look hard.
78.839 -> Less than 10% has an automatic gearbox.
82.233 -> Over 40% has satnav and
rear parking sensors, though.
90.244 -> About 1/3 has leather upholstery.
Prices for the cheapest cars start at 7,500 euros.
100.056 -> PRICES
minimum, average, maximum
107.501 -> Of course, there are things to watch out for.
Let's start with the most important one.
111.619 -> It's the same for every convertible: the top.
It needs to open and close smoothly.
117.138 -> Some Eos drivers complained about leakages.
It's important to keep all rubber in good condition.
126.116 -> Check these when buying a second-hand car, or
if you have one. Make sure it's in mint condition.
132.839 -> You can use a special substance, Krytox.
It's expensive, but it works great.
140.293 -> Check the top, while opening and closing as well.
It has a glass sunroof. Open that too.
148.904 -> Everything has to work right. When checking,
also look for (water) stains in the interior.
156.867 -> These may indicate a leaky roof.
A leaky A-pillar is caused by a clogged drain.
166.089 -> A lot of people found out how to fix this, so
search for "A-pillar DIY drain VW Eos" to find it.
177.187 -> Another thing... Water gets caught between
the rubber seals in the door.
181.495 -> When opening the door, like cameraman
Martijn did, you get wet socks.
186.713 -> That's annoying, but how well.
You can dry them in a convertible. That's nice.
191.937 -> Early Eos have paint problems,
especially at the mirrors and door handles.
199.019 -> The paint is too soft and flakes,
so you'll have to check this.
205.358 -> The engine and gearbox... These are TSI engines,
so you get the timing chain tensioner problem.
213.297 -> Check what could be wrong with the type
of Eos you're looking at, and how to fix this.
220.834 -> The DSG, if you want that, has to shift
gears smoothly. If not, get worried.
229.674 -> I suggest to keep looking for another car.
The manual gearbox for the 2.0 FSI...
235.954 -> The synchro blade of the 2nd gear may break.
Shifting won't go smoothly and may cause noises.
243.306 -> This is something to check as well.
246.443 -> The last thing: there are engines with a timing belt,
but the chain too needs replacing once in a while.
255.347 -> Usually these aren't daily drivers,
so they don't do a lot of miles.
263.547 -> A timing belt or chain has an expiring date as well,
so check this. Especially with the early cars.
269.588 -> They may not have done the miles, but need
a new timing belt or chain because of its age.
277.838 -> We found this car at Van den Udenhout.
It's a pretty blue.
291.214 -> THIS CAR
308.8 -> Thanks to
Van den Udenhout Oss
