10.38 -> Hello everyone, I am Shaheel & I am Ali
12.56 -> today, we are going to review Toyota Corolla Grande
15.54 -> although this is the 11th generation
17.82 -> which would soon be ousted by a newer model
20.62 -> but we did a very comprehensive review of the new Honda Civic
23.34 -> and you guys also requested us to review Corolla
27.38 -> So let's dive right into it!
87.22 -> So Ali, Since we are reviewing Corolla Grande
91.22 -> But we need to talk about what makes Grande, a Grande?
98.6 -> Shaheel, its a good question
101.96 -> [Ali] The entire lineup's shape is exactly the same
103.74 -> [Shaheel] Its very confusing
104.98 -> Starting off with 1.3L XLi, with a Manual & Automatic Transmission
110.4 -> then 1.3L GLi, which includes ABS Brakes & Powered Windows
118.02 -> then you get 1.6L Altis, which only comes with Automatic Transmission
124.54 -> after 1.6L Altis, the category of 1.8L Altis starts
128.44 -> which has a hard-top manual, hard-top automatic
133.52 -> Grande basically is the one with the Sunroof
137.78 -> Grande comes with a Manual & Automatic CVT-i Transmission
145.18 -> you also probably know some more differences...
148.62 -> yes, to begin with Grande is the top-of-the-line variant, starting with
153.1 -> ...the fact that it has the complete leather interior package.
157.96 -> it also comes with a great infotainment system which we'll discuss later in the review...
166.66 -> secondly, this car also has a Sunroof
171.02 -> ...which is exclusive for this car
173.56 -> the headlights of Grande are entirely different from other variants
177.1 -> it has LED Headlights with Auto-Adjustment
180.12 -> ...these lights adjusts themselves according to the driving path
184.48 -> The side profile of 1.6L Altis & 1.8L Grande is exactly the same
190.42 -> with the only difference of chrome garnished door handles in Grande
196.44 -> rest of the side profile including Alloy Wheels & Side Skirts are the same
201.98 -> 1.6L Altis has different Headlights than 1.8 Grande
207.3 -> Another exclusive feature for Grande is the inclusion of steering mounted paddle shifters
224.56 -> Toyota has also kept the features of Smart Entry & Push Start exclusive for Grande
242.52 -> Now, its time for a Point of View (POV) drive...
251.98 -> There is no e-brake, it has a conventional hand brake instead
257.8 -> Toyota has made incremental changes to the dashboard
261.58 -> It's more of a facelift, as they say
265.04 -> Firstly, the layout of the climate control has been updated
268.7 -> Although there's no change in its functionality
271.64 -> It's still a single zone digital climate control, with an updated layout
277.96 -> They have used soft padding & leather stitching on the dash
283.4 -> Navigation unit has been updated as well
286.42 -> The side air vents are round now as compared to the pre-facelift model
292.34 -> There are a couple of new features in terms of drivability
297.58 -> Toyota has introduced Traction Control, now you can manually switch it on or off...
303.32 -> Secondly, they have given a dedicated Sports Mode
306.3 -> As far as it's practicality & effectiveness is concerned
310.64 -> we have tested it quite extensively
314.5 -> However, it's more of a gimmick
316.74 -> There isn't much of a difference in performance whilst using Sports Mode
319.9 -> [Ali] In my experience, it didn't make any difference at all
324.26 -> 0-100 KM/H Test (With & Without Sports Mode)
342.68 -> Ali, since you're driving the car now so
345.565 -> tell us about the front visibility of Grande
347.64 -> How's the view of the A-Pillars?
353.24 -> [Ali] Shaheel, the main issue whilst driving this car...
357.54 -> Although, some people might disagree but...
360.14 -> The front viewing window is not wide
364.56 -> If you look at driver's vertical viewing window
366.98 -> This is very narrow
368.78 -> Probably the culprit behind it is the
370.92 -> raised dashboard which gives the interior a heavier feel
375.96 -> Nevertheless, you feel congestion at the front whilst driving
379.58 -> The headroom is also not much spacious
382.34 -> The dashboard is quite heavy too
384.86 -> I don't particularly like this driving position
389.82 -> A-Pillars are fine
394.86 -> But front view is very congested
400.12 -> Right, and what do you think of the rear view & rear visibility?
404.76 -> Rear visibility is fine for its class
408.78 -> Considering that almost every car nowadays has 3 headrests at the back
414.68 -> Overall, rear visibility is not bad
417.64 -> It's Cruise Control like most other Toyota cars can be engaged from the speeds above 40 km/h (25 m/h)
423.86 -> Another exclusive feature for Grande is the presence of rain-sensing wipers
430.24 -> You can adjust them either manually or automatically & change the intermittent speed
435.4 -> Shaheel, but Toyota needs to work on the effectiveness of rain-sensing wipers
440.26 -> The sensor is not that sensitive
443 -> Often times, it puts you in weird situations
445.42 -> by turning on the wipers when they're not needed...
448.8 -> ...and at times, when you need them, despite all the adjustment levels
451.62 -> ...they won't start working automatically
454.625 -> [Shaheel] I think eventually people have to use them manually
457.46 -> which is a shame, as they are unable to use a feature which is provided in their car...
462.96 -> [Ali] Well for me, that is much more convenient in this car
466.2 -> and Automatic headlights which turns on & off by themselves
468.54 -> they are not available currently
471.16 -> Maybe they will give it in the next model...
473.5 -> So Ali, What do you think about it's Fuel Economy?
478.34 -> ...what have you experienced so far?
480.58 -> Frankly, fuel economy of Grande is superb, considering the fact that it has a 1.8L engine
487.88 -> A lot of people assume that 1.8L engine wouldn't have a good fuel average
492.9 -> It's not the case with Grande
498.3 -> Within city, it gives you around 10.5-11.5 km/l
503.5 -> ofcourse, depending on your driving style, chances are that it would vary significantly
509.44 -> for long journeys, it totally depends on your cruising speeds
514.6 -> 13-14 km/l is normal whereas at speeds of 100 km/h, you can even fetch up to 17 km/l
528.12 -> the CVT transmission is also very good
530.92 -> it gives you a very crisp response
534.68 -> ...which is not so common in other CVTs
538.9 -> Hats-off to Toyota, transmission is very good
542.28 -> and the A/C performance is also quite good
547.9 -> ...you don't face problems with it's A/C, which you feel in some other cars
556.58 -> [Shaheel] So Ali, this time Toyota has given upgraded tyres
561.4 -> They have gone with Yokohama brand
563.86 -> and now it has 16" alloy wheels
568.52 -> So do you feel any difference in its drive due to better tyres?
574.92 -> [Ali] The steering response has slightly gotten better
578.8 -> ...although I would still say
581.46 -> that it feels a bit too light
588.48 -> ...light steering is a good thing
596.5 -> ...however, at certain points you don't feel connected to the road
599.62 -> However, the steering response has definitely gotten better than the pre-facelift model
604.9 -> But at the same time
607.62 -> If you closely observe, then you would notice
610.24 -> the car ride has gotten slightly harder than the pre-facelift version
614.94 -> most probably because of minor suspension adjustments
618.2 -> and the bigger chunk goes to
620.16 -> the tyres & rims as well
622.62 -> Another thing which I particularly liked about this car
625.255 -> let me stop to show it
627.24 -> Let me put it in reverse
629.985 -> the side view mirrors automatically tilt down
635.08 -> let me show you again, this is Neutral
637.32 -> the mirror goes up again
639.94 -> this is reverse, it automatically tilts down
642.82 -> this is a very handy feature and I think ...
646.12 -> this should be present in every car
648.52 -> as often times you don't see curbs & footpaths whilst reversing the car
652.5 -> So, very good feature indeed
662.195 -> Now, we are at the back seats
664.965 -> Frankly, the leg space is great
668.08 -> [Shaheel] Another very good thing is that it doesn't have a center hump in the middle of back row
672.58 -> Essentially, 3 adults can also travel at the back on shorter commutes comfortably.
679.32 -> [Ali] But, at the same time, may be the middle passenger
682.18 -> If they're tall, then they might not feel comfortable sitting in front of the arm-rest
688.28 -> Another very impressive feature
690.985 -> is its 60:40 split folding rear seats
694.36 -> you simply pull this lever
697.58 -> ...and you can access the trunk
700.16 -> this is very helpful if you are carrying extra luggage
702.765 -> one more thing
704.205 -> Toyota claims that this car has a rear reclining seats
707.275 -> It's not a reclining seat
708.875 -> this seat is currently not fully backed up
711.78 -> there's a lever movement with a lock/release
716.36 -> you just pull back the seat to reach
719.4 -> the actual position of the back
722.345 -> In Corolla GLi & 1.6L variants.
725.06 -> so technically, the rear reclining seat is nothing but just a gimmick
730.22 -> [Shaheel] so viewers, we have done an extensive review of Toyota Corolla Grande
735.04 -> and I think overall its a very good package
738.22 -> Toyota has made some good tweaks and changes
741.34 -> some of them are class leading
743.615 -> I think overall, its a good value for money
746.5 -> What do you think Ali?
747.9 -> [Ali] Shaheel, It is good value money if you compare it's price with other brand new cars.
757.44 -> Overall the car is good, I'd say it's worth it
763.3 -> What do you think? Would you buy one?
766 -> I think, in terms of the purchase decision
768.64 -> If I have to daily drive this car
771.8 -> then I think there's a better alternative
774.46 -> but again practically speaking, you can have
777.92 -> more people in the back
779.76 -> the ground clearance is quite good
781.725 -> trunk space is class leading too
784.965 -> so, if I were to take a practical decision, then I would definitely buy this
787.965 -> however, if I have to drive it daily
791.06 -> on shorter commutes
793.82 -> then I would go for it's main competitor, Honda Civic.
798.14 -> Hopefully, Toyota would introduce more features in the upcoming model of Toyota Corolla
803.54 -> Including better driving dynamics
808.34 -> we recently covered the upcoming Toyota Corolla as well
811.94 -> It's link is in the description
816.66 -> and you can check out its review
820.04 -> let us know your opinion with respect to that
824.32 -> do give us your feedback about this review
826.34 -> by commenting down below
833.6 -> we'll see you in the next video
836.38 -> [Ali] hopefully soon, so take care till then!
