2011-2017 F-150 Ford BOSS 302 Intake Manifold Review

Let your Ford F-150 hit higher horsepower and torque numbers by installing this Ford BOSS 302 Intake Manifold. Its high-quality design and construction feed more air into your truck’s engine, boosting its power, acceleration, and throttle response. It even improves the vehicle’s fuel mileage, helping you save on gas as a result.

Built for High-Performance Use. Ford constructed the BOSS 302 intake manifold from a durable yet lightweight composite material. This gives the upgrade remarkable strength without the risk of making your truck’s engine heavy, so you can push your vehicle to its limits with no problem.

Installs Like Factory Counterpart. Since the BOSS 302 Intake Manifold is designed to fit the specifications of your truck, installing it is a pretty straightforward task. However, moderate mechanical expertise is required to ensure a proper fit. Calibration is also needed to avoid engine damage. You can complete the entire installation in no more than 2 hours.

4.02 -> Jake here for American Trucks, and today  I'm taking a look at the Ford Boss 302
8.16 -> Intake Manifold fitting 2011 to 2017 5-liter  F-150s. If you're looking to make more power
14.28 -> out of your Coyote-powered F-150, then  this is an easy way to make it happen.
17.64 -> It's an easy and affordable mod that's going  to bolt right onto your stock engine block,
21.3 -> and it's going to make a pretty big  difference in the way your truck performs.
26.58 -> Mustang owners have been using this trick  since the Boss 302 was first introduced back
30.9 -> in 2012. Now, the Boss's intake manifold  features a larger plenum, longer runners,
35.7 -> and slightly different routing, but it bolts  directly onto the top of any 5-liter Coyote
40.26 -> V8 because it's a Ford factory part. It's like  doing a cold air intake, but this is going to
45.36 -> make an even bigger difference over stock when it  comes to airflow. Better airflow means more power,
50.22 -> and really, who doesn't like that? Now, we're  not going to be throwing the truck on our dyno,
54.12 -> but we've heard claims of up to  40 more horsepower over stock,
57.42 -> which makes sense. The Boss 302 made about 444  horsepower versus the stock Mustang 500's 400,
64.32 -> so you can kind of extrapolate from there,  but remember, your results may vary.
68.22 -> This is also going to bring you more torque  and a slightly different power curve,
71.94 -> so it makes more power higher up in the rev range  because of the way this is designed. As opposed to
77.04 -> your stock intake manifold, which collects the air  down on the bottom, and then loops it up through
81.6 -> the runners and down into the heads, this is  going to collect everything at the large box here
86.16 -> at the top. It's going to get pulled down to the  individual cylinders through these longer runners
90.96 -> on the side. The longer runners and that more  natural flow of air means higher air velocity,
95.76 -> better flow, and again, that means more power.  It really lends itself well to the Coyote V8's
100.86 -> high-strung, rev-happy nature. You're going  to find yourself matting the throttle all of
105.24 -> the time because you're just going to want to  hear it and enjoy the sound and extra power.
108.78 -> Now, it is worth noting here that while this does  bolt right onto the engine, you are going to have
113.52 -> to do a few other things to get this setup fully  functional. For example, you are going to need an
118.14 -> aftermarket intake. You're also going to need  a MAP sensor extension. The intake is because,
123 -> again, your stock one routes down here as  opposed to up top like this one does. You're
128.88 -> going to have to finagle that a little bit.  However, these are minor things. Let's face it,
132.84 -> if you're shopping for this intake manifold,  you've probably already got yourself a cold
136.92 -> air intake. Now, if you don't, just throw it  in the cart, grab that while you're at it.
142.2 -> Much like your stock manifold, this is made from a  high-strength, heat-resistant composite material.
147.54 -> It's going to hold up just like your factory  unit, again, because it is a factory Ford part.
152.1 -> It also includes new intake gaskets here for the  throttle body, and for the manifold itself down on
157.8 -> the bottom. Everything is just as good of quality  as you'd expect from an OEM part. Plus, you've got
163.5 -> this cool Boss 302 logo and the streaks up top  to make a nice impression when you pop the hood.
171.12 -> One thing you might not be expecting though is  that this doesn't actually carry a huge price
175.26 -> tag. Coming in at about $325, this is a pretty  affordable modification for a more specialty part,
181.14 -> especially considering the benefits that  you're going to get out of it. However,
184.26 -> like I mentioned earlier, this is going  to require you to do a few other things
187.74 -> to get the setup working properly.  Nothing too over the top though.
192.78 -> Speaking of that installation process,  we're going to give it a two out of three
196.14 -> on our difficulty meter, and it should take you  around two hours to get the job completed. Now,
200.46 -> like I mentioned, the manifold itself is  going to bolt right into place on top of
204 -> your engine. You've even got the bolts already  in it ready to go. However, you are going to
208.02 -> have to get a few additional pieces moving on  the truck to have everything fully functional.
211.74 -> That's going to wrap it up here for  our review of the Boss 302 Intake
215.34 -> Manifold fitting 2011 to 2017 5-liter F-150s.  Thanks so much for watching. And as always,
222 -> for all things F-150, be sure to keep  it right here at americantrucks.com.
