MENS IMPROVEMENT and today I’m reviewing
4.96 -> Tom Ford’s Oud Wood.
Tom Ford Oud Wood came
7.04 -> out for the first time in 2007 and has
been a massive success since then.
11.2 -> It is one of Tom Ford’s best seller fragrances
and I’m going to talk about it a little bit.
16 -> In terms of the notes, there’s:
Oud, of course, Brazilian Rosewood,
20.32 -> Sandalwood, Cardamom, Vanilla, Sichuan
Pepper, Vetiver, Tonka Bean & Amber.
27.04 -> Based on the notes themselves, you would
think that this is a Tom Ford fragrance.
30.88 -> I say that because Agarwood, also known
as Oud, Sandalwood and Rosewood are
36.16 -> known to be very expensive.
But in terms of how it smells,
39.68 -> you pick up the oud of course, with a slightly
sweet smell coming from the vanilla.
45.28 -> The drydown smells woody as you
would expect from the Sandalwood
50.64 -> and Brazilian Rosewood with a
small hint of Cardamom
52.56 -> It just smells very well mixed together
and generally very masculine, sophisticated
58.48 -> and rich.
As I mentioned the word “expensive”,
60.72 -> let’s talk about the price of the fragrance.
A 30 ml bottle that I’m holding
64.72 -> here costs around $115-$120,
a 50 ml bottle costs around $167-$205,
73.68 -> a 100 ml bottle costs around $275-$330
and lastly a 250 ml bottle costs around
84.96 -> $450-$670.
So all in all,
91.04 -> Tom Ford keeps it “Tom Ford” because this is
quite pricey as you can tell by the numbers.
97.76 -> In terms of longevity and performance,
it’s very different for many people.
101.84 -> For me, the performance is great, 7-9 hours.
But if you hear or read reviews on this fragrance,
107.84 -> people tend to complain a
bit about the longevity.
111.28 -> For the price that you pay, you want to have
a fragrance with good performance but for some
115.2 -> people, it doesn’t seem to live up to that.
So really, before you buy, I would suggest
120.32 -> that you try this out for yourself
first, then see if the performance

Let’s talk about the sillage.
127.36 -> So in this fragrance, Tom Ford has
taken Oud, a typically very strong
132.08 -> and animalic note and toned it down.
They toned it down so much that it is
137.2 -> office-friendly because it doesn’t fill
out the whole room when you wear it.
141.12 -> Projection is about 1-1,5
meters so it’s decent and people
145.2 -> will maybe even smell you once in a while.
If you’re looking for an extremely strong and
150.4 -> almost inescapable fragrance, this is not it.
But if you’re looking for a high-quality,
156.32 -> masculine, office-safe, bold and
compliment-pulling fragrance,
161.04 -> this could be something for you.
Speaking of compliments,
164.24 -> this one is interesting.
This is a very masculine fragrance
166.64 -> that will probably pull positive compliments.
Some people that aren’t used to wearing fragrances
170.96 -> themselves might not like it or will say
that it’s a bit weird or just okay.
176.4 -> But people that typically wear fragrances
will probably like it and say that it smells
181.44 -> nice and masculine.
Some women will also like this
185.28 -> because it’s very masculine and has a small, sweet
tinge to it which could be found attractive.
190.8 -> Let’s talk about my final opinion and
rating of Tom Ford’s Oud Wood.
195.04 -> I personally really love this fragrance.
It’s very masculine, has some boldness to it
200.08 -> and is made really well.
And for me, the performance
203.12 -> is also nothing to complain about.
It’s one of my favourites from my collection
206.8 -> and I think that if you get this fragrance
on a discount, it will be worth it.
211.12 -> So my rating is going to be 8.6/10.
It would have gotten a 9/10 if it was cheaper
217.36 -> and gotten a score over 9 if it was stronger and
had better longevity than it already has.
