2.82 ->
4.23 -> SPEAKER: If you regularly
need to haul a family,
7.08 -> a bunch of stuff, and--
8.34 -> I don't know-- a boat or
two, the Chevy Suburban
10.8 -> has long been your
vehicle of choice.
13.14 -> And it's been
redesigned for 2021,
15.93 -> and now it has more
of everything--
17.79 -> more space, more power,
more capability, more cargo
20.79 -> capacity, and on, and on.
22.92 -> And it's actually a bit
nicer to drive too thanks
25.41 -> to some fundamental changes
happening underneath.
28.08 -> I actually happen to
like it quite a bit
30.62 -> In this video, we're going
to explain why and everything
33.06 -> you need to know
about the Suburban,
34.95 -> and click the links below to see
more of what we have going on
37.83 -> over at Edmunds, including a
full review of this vehicle.
40.92 -> Also check back later for a
video review of the Chevy Tahoe
43.59 -> as well.
44.14 -> But let's stick to this
for the time being.
46.92 -> The suburban comes in
six different trim levels
49.5 -> from the base LS to the
offroad inspired Z71
53.01 -> to this, the High Country.
55.71 -> Prices range from about
$50,000 to about $75,000.
59.92 -> This High Country with all
the options it has equipped
62.22 -> is just over $80,000.
64.95 -> Now when it comes to the
changes on the outside,
67.47 -> you really can't see a lot
because the changes aren't
70.47 -> that dramatic.
71.13 -> Overall length is
like within an inch
73.68 -> of the previous generation,
but the wheel base
75.66 -> has been enlarged.
77.04 -> The wheel is the distance
between the front axle
79.2 -> and the rear axle.
80.25 -> And by making that
longer, Chevy's
82.29 -> been able to increase the
interior space overall
84.84 -> for passengers and cargo.
86.1 -> The other change is
something you can't really
88.02 -> see unless you stick
your head underneath,
89.31 -> and that's Chevy's
changed from a solid rear
91.41 -> axle to an independent
rear suspension.
93.26 -> We'll talk about what that is
and why it affects the driving
95.76 -> experience.
96.26 -> But for the time
being, just know
97.86 -> it's a more compact
suspension setup that
100.08 -> allows the floor to be a
bit lower to also give you
102.72 -> more space.
104.1 -> How much space?
105.03 -> Try 145-cubic feet with the
second and third row folded.
110.4 -> I've left the driver's
side up and the second row
112.56 -> just like you get a picture
of how much space you're
114.3 -> working with.
114.87 -> It's massive.
115.8 -> And even if you drive around
in a more common configuration
118.38 -> where the third row's folded
but the second row is lifted up,
121.05 -> you still have 94-cubic
feet of cargo space.
124.77 -> Not only is that more
than the Expedition
126.75 -> Max in a similar
configuration, it's
128.25 -> so much that it's actually
kind of hard to picture.
130.45 -> So just for the sake
of illustration,
132.21 -> that's 2 and 1/2
times as much as you
134.04 -> would get in a Honda CRV.
135.44 -> Yeah, it's a smaller vehicle and
a much less expensive vehicle,
138.06 -> but it's a much more
common one so just
139.74 -> to give you a reference of
how much space you're actually
142.11 -> working with.
142.89 -> Now when you lift
up the third row.
144.53 ->
147.11 -> Sometimes they take a
little bit to respond.
148.94 -> Although, I do like the fact
that they're power controlled.
151.4 -> You still have 42-cubic feet
of space, and that is massive.
155.36 -> I like all the power
controls on this too.
158.79 -> Power folding
tailgates are cool,
160.16 -> but every SUV these
days has those.
162.43 -> What every SUV
doesn't have, though,
164.42 -> is the pop-out rear
glass, which has already
166.58 -> popped because I've done
this take a couple of times.
169.22 -> What's cool about this space
though is that if you've
171.53 -> got a big dog like I
do you, you pretty much
173.81 -> already know why this is cool.
175.28 -> But going further on down
here, when you get the advanced
178.22 -> trailer tow package, you
get a pretty nice setup
181.19 -> behind this little
plastic piece,
183.14 -> which is cool if you want
to cover this stuff up.
186.97 -> There we go.
188.48 -> Here are your trailer hookups
nice and cleanly integrated.
191.06 -> You also get a trailer
break controller.
192.8 -> And max tow capability
for the Suburban
195.74 -> as it sits right now
with a 6.2 liter V8
197.66 -> and so on, you can get
up to 8,300 pounds.
200.19 -> But, of course,
getting that figure
201.65 -> requires specific options
and configurations,
204.53 -> and it can be a little confusing
how to track down what's
206.9 -> applicable to your vehicle.
208.36 -> What's nice, though, with
this Suburban, and the Tahoe,
210.65 -> and a couple others like
the Silverado and such,
212.72 -> Chevy now has a sticker
on the doorjamb that
214.76 -> tells you the specific
towing and payload rating
217.31 -> for your specific
vehicle as it's equipped.
220.01 -> That's really cool so are
quad tailpipes, which you only
222.95 -> get with the 6.2 liter V8.
224.57 ->
228.6 -> When you get inside
the Suburban,
230.1 -> there is a lot to look at
and a lot to talk about.
233.17 -> So brace yourselves, right?
235.47 -> The general look and feel of
the High Country is quite nice,
238.63 -> I got to say,
especially for the money
240.21 -> that they're asking for the
High Country trim level.
242.97 -> I got to say.
243.51 -> I drove a Z71 earlier
this week, though,
246.03 -> and the interior look and
feel was just not as nice
250.29 -> as this obviously, but
it did cost quite a bit.
253.56 -> So I have to say
the interior quality
255.57 -> and appearance is nicer than
what you'd find in a Silverado.
258.39 -> But if you're truly looking for
that like upscale experience,
261.13 -> you have to wait for the
Escalade and GMC Yukon Denali.
263.84 -> What we see here, though,
in the High Country
265.71 -> is quite nice and especially
with regard to usability.
269.93 -> There's, again, a lot of
details to talk about.
272.07 -> The first thing you might
notice when you hop in
274.07 -> is this center infotainment
touchscreen display.
277.11 -> It's 10 inches, and the
placement and functionality
279.39 -> works really well.
280.26 -> It's actually kind of deceiving
how big the screen is.
282.27 -> You don't really
notice that until you
283.85 -> use Apple CarPlay
or Android Auto,
285.69 -> and then those screens
look really, really nice
287.76 -> on this display.
288.84 -> Now both of those phone
projection systems
290.88 -> work wirelessly or wired.
292.86 -> You can use either one.
294.37 -> You also have wireless
charging down here as well.
296.79 -> I got a call that my
colleague, Mark Takahashi,
299.43 -> when using wireless
or Apple CarPlay
301.32 -> had a couple of audio issues.
303.06 -> I didn't experience those,
but we got call them out.
306.22 -> Now to the right of that, you
have this little storage cubby
308.97 -> here, which is interesting
because it's kind of deep.
311.72 -> And I was wondering what you
could put in there until I
314.01 -> put a candy bar in there.
315.73 -> And then I realized, oh,
that's a pretty good place
317.85 -> to store candy bars, or
skittles, or what have you.
321.33 -> To the left of that
is the shifter,
323.28 -> and the shifter
design is unique,
326.61 -> I think we should state.
328.41 -> Because it looks like it's
a push button solution,
331.02 -> but it's not.
331.56 -> You push Park for park.
332.94 -> You push Neutral for neutral.
334.15 -> But if you want
drive or reverse,
335.55 -> you lift up on those
toggle switches.
338.19 -> We'll talk more about how
that works while we drive it.
340.68 -> For the time being, I'll just
say it takes a little bit
343.38 -> to get used to.
344.58 -> Now directly in front of you,
you have analog gauges and then
347.82 -> a digital screen
in between that's
350.52 -> really crisp and easy to read.
351.98 -> And then you have a massive
head-up display on the High
354.27 -> Country that's really nice.
356.8 -> I wonder if it's too
big, but I really
359.49 -> like it for the brief time
that I've had driving this car.
363.18 -> Moving down the
center stack, I like
365.22 -> the use of buttons and knobs.
368.16 -> This is really easy
to use, really simple,
370.53 -> really intuitive.
371.56 -> There's not a lot
of fussing around
373.02 -> that you've got to do
with the center stack.
375.84 -> Now, when it comes to
center console storage,
377.82 -> you may sit here and
think like, wow, OK, you
379.8 -> got cup holders, cup
holders, and then you've
381.75 -> got this storage bin.
384 -> Is that it?
384.99 -> No, that's not it because the
center console can slide back.
388.89 ->
391.43 -> I got to say, the
first time I saw
392.85 -> that I was kind of blown away
because that's really cool.
396.66 -> This isn't going to be on
all Suburbans and Tahoes,
399.15 -> but it's optional.
400.33 -> I think it's worth getting,
though, just by looking at it.
402.75 -> Because not only do you now
have this massive area for bags
406.32 -> or other stuff, you also have
a drawer here you can open up.
409.23 -> And then you still have
access to this storage area
411.45 -> too, which is really large.
413.28 -> Not only that, but the back
seat passenger-- the second row
416.58 -> passengers now have access
to these cup holders as well.
419.25 -> So a really cool
setup which segues
421.8 -> into where do you put Arnie?
426.58 -> Where do you contain Arnie?
427.75 -> And there's frankly no
shortage of places to put him.
430.79 -> You have the wireless
charging pad here.
432.46 -> You have the cup holders here.
433.48 -> You have this big place
here for Arnie to play in.
435.56 -> You can stow him away there
were no one can find him.
438.85 -> You've got this
massive area here.
440.89 -> You've got this place here.
442.66 -> You've got these little spots
on the side of the transmission
445.57 -> tunnel to take him.
446.68 -> And not only that, but
also on the doors--
448.84 -> on both driver and
passenger front doors
451.15 -> you have cubbies at the bottom.
453.01 -> But you also have this
elevated area here
454.84 -> for phone storage as well.
455.92 -> There's no shortage of
places for Arnie to hide in.
460.75 -> Also connectivity-- upfront you
have a 12-volt outlet, a USB-C,
465.88 -> and then a traditional
older style USB port.
468.55 -> And that's it for
the front seats.
471.42 -> As we get to the
second row, let's
472.84 -> talk about how the
second row seat operates.
475.14 -> There's a couple of neat
things about these seats.
477.22 -> One is they can slide
forward and back,
478.85 -> so you can control
the amount of legroom
480.52 -> that the second row has,
also the amount of space
482.56 -> you have available
to the third row.
484.54 -> When you fold the seats
flat, they actually
486.7 -> lower a little bit.
487.69 -> So that way when you
fold the third row
489.31 -> you actually have a flat load
floor, and that's really neat.
492.85 -> And when they flip up,
you have a ton of space
496.3 -> to access the third row.
497.78 -> These are, of course,
the captain's chairs.
499.57 -> You can get this with a
bench in the second row,
501.85 -> but this is what we have for
the purposes of reviewing.
504.9 -> I'll call out that
putting the seat back
507.91 -> in place, especially
folding it back up,
509.74 -> does require a bit of muscle.
512.01 -> So just be aware of that.
514.48 -> As we hop inside, you'll
notice that of course there
517.57 -> isn't storage here
because there's
519.1 -> no center console
here because there's
520.68 -> a wide open pass through.
522.07 -> But there is a ton of
space in the second row.
525.53 -> And then you also get
the sliding center
528.25 -> console in the front row so you
can have more access to stuff
531.85 -> to put things.
533.11 -> Connectivity's really strong
because this High Country
536.74 -> has the optional second row seat
entertainment package, which
539.92 -> adds these massive
tablets that are really
543.01 -> clean and easy to read.
544.06 -> They're also adjustable
to like that.
546.19 -> And their inputs are
really neat because you
548.02 -> have two HDMI ports, two use
USB-C ports, and then one
551.92 -> 110-volt outlet.
553.78 -> That means you can
bring in your devices
555.55 -> so your kids can bring their
Nintendo Switch, for example,
557.77 -> and get their "Animal
Crossing" on while they're
559.63 -> in the second row while you guys
are going on your road trip.
562.24 -> I like that a lot.
563.23 -> Just be aware that there's
no traditional older
566.47 -> style USB ports.
567.91 -> So if you have an
older phone or device,
570.04 -> you'll need to get an
adapter of some kind.
572.56 -> And also the rear
doors back here
575.17 -> have a similar neat
storage solution
577.02 -> as the front doors where you
have the traditional cubby
579.31 -> at the bottom, and
then you also have
580.85 -> another cubby right above that.
582.46 -> And take a look at how
big that sunroof is.
585.73 -> Nice.
587.05 -> To show off the third row,
I got to get back in there.
589.3 -> So I'm going slide
this second row
592.06 -> seat back as far as
possible and sort of
594.55 -> squirm my way back here.
596.53 -> Now, I'm about 5' 10"
and 185 pounds, and I
599.86 -> have a ton of space back here.
602.29 -> My knees just barely
touch the second row,
604.67 -> which is slid all the way back.
606.19 -> And I have a ton
of headroom here.
607.96 -> Chevy's been clever and cut out
a bunch of space in the roof
611.38 -> so taller folks
can sit back here.
613.06 -> And the seats are not fantastic,
but they are workable.
615.99 -> Now in terms of interior
storage in the third row,
618.07 -> I've got space for
Arnie-- very important--
620.26 -> a smaller cup holder right
here, and then a USB-C port
623.24 -> right there.
623.74 -> And that's the
same on both sides.
626.11 -> This is a pretty
large space back here
629.62 -> for a full-size adult,
although you'd probably
632.37 -> put kids back here.
633.16 -> It's nice to know
you have this option
634.42 -> to transport larger people
should you have the need.
636.83 -> And when it comes
to getting out,
637.87 -> you don't need to wait for mom.
639.22 -> You've got a button that'll
drop the seat and lift it up.
646.21 -> How cool is that?
648.79 -> When it comes to engines
and transmissions,
650.85 -> the Suburban is, no surprise,
very similar to the Chevy
653.44 -> Silverado.
654.4 -> The top dog is the 6.2-liter
V8 that you can only get
658.33 -> in the High Country.
659.2 -> It's got 420 horsepower,
and you can only
661.78 -> get it in the High
Country for reasons.
665.68 -> It's the one I want in
every other trim level.
667.7 -> But hey, it is what it is.
670 -> That's got a 10-speed automatic
like every other engine
672.64 -> that you can get
with the Suburban.
674.35 -> Speaking of, the Suburban
will come with a 3-liter turbo
678.4 -> diesel straight six.
679.39 -> That'll be available later.
680.53 -> Chevy says Q4 of 2020.
682.44 -> And that'll be nice because
it's got a ton of work.
684.56 -> I want to say like
460-pound-feet.
686.26 -> And it also means it'll have a
higher tow rating most likely,
690.1 -> and you won't have to
stop that often for fuel.
692.8 -> You get a ton of range
out of a tank of diesel,
695.14 -> which is really neat.
696.35 -> Now most Suburbans will be
powered by a 5.3-liter V8.
700.77 -> That'll be the
most common engine
702.34 -> because it's in
most trim levels.
704.2 -> That has 355 horsepower.
706.57 -> And though adequate,
it's not as fun
708.4 -> to brag about because the twin
turbo V6 in the Ford Expedition
712.18 -> does make more power,
though, I think.
713.92 -> Most people get along
just fine with that V8.
716.38 -> As for fuel economy, the
5.3-liter V8 has 18 MPG
721.27 -> combined from the EPA.
722.82 -> The 6.2 has 17 MPG combined,
and adding 4-wheel drive
726.27 -> to either engine drops your
average combined MPG one.
731.22 -> I can't believe I
remembered all that.
732.8 -> [ENGINE REVVING]
735.63 ->
738.93 -> 6.2-liter V8 goes
good, sounds good.
742.2 -> So when we talk about
driving the Chevy Suburban,
745.23 -> there's no getting around
the sheer size of this thing.
747.72 -> This is a massive
vehicle, and you're never
750.19 -> going to be able to hide that.
751.44 -> But what you can do is
you can make a vehicle
753.93 -> this big easy enough to
drive, manageable enough
757.35 -> to drive through city
streets like Los Angeles,
759.57 -> for example, where I've been
driving this for a while.
762.47 -> Now there's a couple ways that
Chevy's been able to do that.
764.97 -> The biggest change, of
course, from this generation
767.38 -> is the independent
rear suspension.
768.84 -> But when you combine
that, as Chevy has,
770.79 -> with air suspension
and MagneRide,
772.99 -> it makes things even nicer.
774.18 -> Now what are those things?
775.54 -> Well, the air suspension
are air springs essentially.
778.38 -> And the MagneRide
you've probably
780.03 -> heard when talking about
performance cars before.
782.61 -> But really what it is a type
of adaptive suspension damper
785.85 -> or shock that uses a
magnetically reactive fluid,
790.11 -> and it's able to change the
viscosity of that fluid through
793.14 -> magnetism-- through
the magic of magnets--
795.66 -> to adjust the damping
characteristics.
797.97 -> Now, that's a really
long-winded way
799.89 -> of saying it's an adaptive
damper that reacts really
802.59 -> quickly.
803.22 -> And combined with
an air spring, you
805.05 -> have a suspension that's
able to read road conditions
807.51 -> and adjust based on the
speed that you're going
810.63 -> and the type of driving
that you're kind of driving,
814.23 -> if that makes sense So your
suspension's able of lowering
818.28 -> a couple of inches at freeway
speeds to help fuel economy
821.04 -> or when you're parked to make
it easier to get in and out.
823.55 -> And it's also able to
rise up when you have it
825.78 -> in like 4-wheel drive low
with the 4-wheel drive models
828.88 -> to give you additional
ground clearance.
831.15 -> That air suspension's
also capable of adjusting
834.72 -> for load leveling.
835.5 -> So it can always make sure
that the vehicle's riding flat
837.88 -> whether you're towing, or you've
got load distributed inside.
840.95 -> It's all really nice stuff.
842.34 -> Now on top of that, Chevy's
dialed in some really nice
847.61 -> steering into the Suburban.
849.29 -> I drove this High Country,
and I drove a Z71.
851.76 -> And I was actually
pretty impressed
853.22 -> by the steering
assistance-- the resistance
855.65 -> and the feedback coming
from the rest of the car.
857.69 -> It makes a vehicle--
858.83 -> again, of this size--
860.33 -> really easy to place
within its lane.
862.88 -> That's all nice stuff.
864.53 -> When it comes to engines
and transmissions,
866.45 -> when you have a
10-speed automatic,
868.94 -> it kind of doesn't
matter which engine
870.52 -> you have attached to it because
the gears are so narrow.
872.86 -> It's going to make use of that
power when you step on the gas.
875.54 -> The 5.3-liter V8 that I
experienced in the Z71 trim
879.5 -> level Suburban was totally fine.
881.57 -> When it comes to the 6.2, that
additional power is noticeable.
885.2 -> It's really nice
when you nail the gas
886.85 -> and you can feel that
resulting acceleration.
888.87 -> Let's do it right now.
889.79 -> [ENGINE REVVING]
890.94 ->
891.44 -> That's good.
892.64 -> And yes, it's more of a
bragging right to have.
894.6 -> But man, I kind of like big V8s,
and I like the bragging rights
897.32 -> that come with them.
898.15 -> I wish it was available
on the lower trim levels.
901.34 -> Now, the V8 in the
Suburbans have a wide range
907.31 -> of cylinder deactivation.
909.17 -> They can selectively
shut down cylinders
911.6 -> to save fuel economy much like
they can with the Silverado,
915.17 -> all the way down to none of them
running when you're at a stop.
917.9 -> Now during normal driving on
the freeway through the city
920.61 -> commute, you don't even
notice when this is happening.
922.86 -> I can't tell.
923.84 -> The only time you can really
notice the system at work
926.36 -> is when you stop at a light
and the engine shuts off.
928.76 -> That's pretty subtle.
929.63 -> But when the engine
turns back on when
931.1 -> you come off the brake pedal,
it's a little noticeable.
933.39 -> I sometimes turn it off
because that little shutter
936.65 -> can be a little undesirable.
938.39 -> So depending on how sensitive
you are to fuel economy,
941.27 -> your mileage may vary.
944.39 -> With a vehicle
this big, again, we
945.92 -> keep coming back to one of
the biggest features you
948.71 -> can think of is driving aids--
952.72 -> adaptive driving
aides, for example.
954.23 -> And there's no shortage of them.
956.18 -> And the most crucial
in this High Country
958.91 -> is the exterior camera system.
960.89 -> It's extremely extensive.
963.15 -> There's multiple angles that
show you basically every side
967.07 -> and view of this
vehicle that you
969.11 -> would want to see
when navigating
971.06 -> in and out of a parking
spot like your garage
973.4 -> or when you're parallel parking.
974.87 -> It really takes the
guesswork out of that,
976.62 -> and that's important because
from my seating position,
978.93 -> which is low admittedly--
980.42 -> I like sitting low--
982.19 -> that helps me take
care of my blind spots.
983.99 -> You can almost drive this thing
at low speeds through a parking
986.63 -> lot-- almost drive this
thing with low speeds--
988.7 -> just relying on
the camera system.
990.5 -> In fact, when we've been setting
up some of these exterior shots
993.17 -> that you'll see, I was
positioning it basically
995.45 -> just using the cameras.
996.44 -> And that's really
helpful, again,
998.3 -> with the vehicle of this size.
999.59 -> You can never get
around the size
1001.01 -> if I haven't said that enough.
1002.26 -> But you can make that size
workable, nimble, and easy
1006.16 -> to maneuver around.
1006.97 -> And that's what Chevy has
done here pretty well.
1009.85 -> So let's talk about ride
quality because this
1012.67 -> is a heavy vehicle--
a very heavy vehicle.
1016.09 -> And it's still built
on a truck platform,
1020.32 -> let's say, even though
it's a really advanced one
1022.36 -> with the rear suspension
the way it is.
1024.19 -> So when it comes
to ride quality,
1025.82 -> what is that air
suspension doing?
1027.24 -> What are those dampers
doing to quell it?
1028.95 -> Well, you do get a
sense of road texture.
1032.11 -> You do feel a little bit of
that constant low frequency
1036.61 -> rumble from the road.
1039.73 -> I happen to like the
amount of information
1042.11 -> that's presented to you.
1043.11 -> But if you do want a
completely isolated ride,
1045.39 -> you're not going
to get that here.
1046.81 -> And I think physics will
allow you to get that here.
1050.08 -> And I think that actually ties
back into the overall control
1053.41 -> that I sense when
I drive this thing,
1055.48 -> where this is a vehicle that's
really easy to keep position
1058.16 -> in its lane, and
it's really easy
1059.53 -> to maneuver despite its
size and how much it weighs.
1062.78 -> The same thing goes
for the brake pedal--
1065.47 -> really progressive in its
feedback and really easy to
1067.96 -> modulate even in
bonkers LA traffic
1070.99 -> where you have to drive
nose to tail just to commute
1073.81 -> successfully.
1074.51 -> I don't recommend it.
1075.56 -> That's just the way
things happen down here.
1078.49 -> In fact, the only thing that I
really have a complaint about
1081.31 -> is this shifter.
1082.24 ->
1085.33 -> I'm not really sure where
to start on this, OK?
1087.29 -> So push-button
shifters can work.
1090.56 -> Unique shifter designs can work.
1092.45 -> My favorite kind of shifter is
just a column-mounted shifter
1094.97 -> like you get on a Silverado--
1097.31 -> really tactile.
1098.84 -> You know exactly what
you're getting into.
1100.59 -> You pull down for drive, and
you pull lower for lower gears.
1103.13 -> You push up all
the way for park.
1105.05 -> With here, it's different.
1108.21 -> That's to be sure because
you're pressing buttons for park
1110.63 -> and neutral, and you're pulling
up for a drive and reverse.
1113.08 -> Yet there's no texture
difference on the upshift
1116 -> and downshift button.
1117.05 -> So you do have to
refer to them when
1119.24 -> you want to downshift
and upshift gears
1120.95 -> manually like when you're
going down a grade.
1123.16 -> And when you're pulling
a three-point turn,
1125.72 -> you have to pay
closer attention.
1127.22 -> Let's show you what
that looks like.
1128.72 ->
1131.36 -> OK, so what we're
going do now is
1132.73 -> demonstrate why I have some
challenges with this shifter.
1138.2 -> And the way we're going
to do that is we're
1139.99 -> going to make a three-point turn
on an intentionally narrow road
1144.43 -> to simulate what that's
like when you have to do it
1148.18 -> when traffic's coming at you.
1149.71 -> It's not great.
1151.39 -> So I'm going to give that
a try as soon as traffic
1154.36 -> is not nearby.
1155.1 -> I did not mean to ride in there.
1156.43 -> So I got to place my
hand in this position
1158.18 -> to make sure that I have
the right kind of leverage
1160.54 -> over the buttons.
1161.92 -> Turn in, grab reverse, back up.
1169.41 -> The seat vibrates when I'm
getting near an obstacle,
1175.13 -> and that works.
1176.59 -> And it works because I've
practiced at it a few times.
1179.69 -> I found that if I place
my hand like this where
1182.03 -> my ring finger's underneath
Drive and my index finger's
1184.73 -> underneath Reverse,
I can make it work.
1188.48 -> Now, make it work is different
than what I'd prefer it to be,
1192.02 -> and that's just a
console-mounted shifter
1194.51 -> or a steering column
mounted shifter
1196.19 -> that's more natural to me.
1198.41 -> So just be aware
that, that shifter's
1200.48 -> going to take some
getting used to.
1204.11 -> But overall, I think this
is a really nice vehicle
1207.47 -> to drive given the
capability it has to take on
1211.58 -> and the weight
and size that come
1213.65 -> as part of that capability.
1216.17 -> Really strong here.
1217.61 -> So that wraps up this review
of the Chevy Suburban,
1220.46 -> and let's look at the scorecard.
1222.02 -> Really on the negative side
of the ledger you only have
1224.66 -> a couple of weird things like a
somewhat strange shifter design
1227.48 -> and the fact that you can
only get the 6.2-liter V8
1230.63 -> in the High Country.
1231.77 -> Everything else though
is really, really strong
1234.01 -> from the interior space
to the functionality,
1235.89 -> from the technology
and the sheer usability
1239.03 -> of the Suburban.
1240.05 -> It's such that we're
really eager to pair it
1242.06 -> against the Ford Expedition Max.
1243.53 -> [MUSIC PLAYING]
1246.58 ->
