Zotac AMP Extreme AIRO RTX 4090 REVIEW: Six months LATER

Six months ago I bought an Nvidia GeForfce Zotac AMP Extreme AIRO RTX 4090. Here is what I think about it, ranging from temperatures while gaming, the Firestorm software, VR capability, DLSS 3 and more while showing many, many driving games cruising at 4K 60FPS.

-> six months of ownership later I reveal
-> whether I regret buying the Zotac amp
.759 -> extreme Aero RTX 1490 and if it makes
.24 -> sense for racing games
.679 -> ladies gentlemen and sentient objects
.859 -> Feast your peep holes on the most
.44 -> powerful consumer graphics card ever
.439 -> made until the rumor TI version at least
.019 -> which may not be a thing after all this
.779 -> particular interpretation known as the
.88 -> zotak GeForce amp extreme Aero RTX 1490
.62 -> is the PC gaming equivalent of the
.54 -> Bugatti Chiron price horsepower and size
.02 -> included admittedly Zotac was not my
.559 -> first choice nothing against the brand
.48 -> each manufacturer has good and bad days
-> however amongst all those hip to be
.46 -> square gpus the curvy Zotac ticked the
.82 -> most boxes boxes such as a pleasing
.52 -> design quiet operation zero coil wine
.76 -> lower price and along and hopefully
.46 -> painless warranty in addition to immense
.4 -> polygon pushing power having spent 1 457
.6 -> pounds and 23 Pence approximately 1 850
.02 -> USD us at the start of February 2023 I
.04 -> decided it was time for my zodak amp
.26 -> extreme Aero RTX 1490 review which
.32 -> features many driving games at 4K 60
.439 -> frames per second with visual settings
.36 -> maxed out yes I dusted off my wallet
.42 -> sets to moths free and paid with my own
.24 -> money for this triple fan Beast which
.06 -> makes the Asus RTX 3080 I had beforehand
.06 -> look puny and feeble why because what
.42 -> makes the amp extreme Aeros so powerful
.88 -> as well as other RTX 4090 gpus including
.299 -> the founders Edition is that you get 16
.32 -> 384 Cuda Cuda cores 24 gigabytes of
.22 -> gddr6x vram 8K resolution support and a
.6 -> 384-bit memory Bus All Aboard this
.24 -> particular Zotac also has a boost clock
.34 -> speed of 2580 megahertz all of that plus
.599 -> Overkill cooling means the RTX 1490 is
.9 -> the first and and currently only
.819 -> graphics card capable of not just a
.98 -> comfortable 4K 60 frames per second with
.9 -> visuals maxed out in almost every game
.239 -> 4K 120 frames per second and Beyond this
.94 -> possible too that is if you can afford a
.64 -> high resolution display and a happy
.5 -> using nvidia's DLS S3 introduced with
.56 -> the 40 series GeForce graphics cards for
.319 -> more visually demanding games such as
.3 -> cyberpunk 2077 if you want to play games
.48 -> at their visual Peak there is nothing
.18 -> else like it the Gap to the RTX 4080 for
.54 -> instance can be tens of percent while
.94 -> amd's 7900 XTX loses out on Ray tracing
.959 -> performance yes 4K 144hz monitors and
.099 -> high frame rates high resolution VR
.14 -> headsets such as the HP Reverb G2 can
.319 -> finally get the horsepower they need
.18 -> while lazy Gamers with bigger piggy
.4 -> banks can avoid tweaking Graphics
.5 -> settings okay numbers the Zotac amp
.68 -> extreme Aero RTX 1490 is 350 5.5
.459 -> millimeters long 149.6 millimeters wide
.12 -> and 72.1 millimeters deep hence the need
.12 -> for three and a half slots which is
.34 -> basically four as such this is not the
.22 -> GPU for Mini ITX or Micro ATX builds
.58 -> even some small and mid-sized ATX cases
.879 -> will struggle to house its gigantic size
.7 -> weighing just over two kilograms it is
.4 -> heavy too hence why you should use the
.56 -> included GPU support stand to ensure no
.379 -> damage is done to it the motherboard or
.08 -> both display output wise it has three
.72 -> display ports 1.4 a and one HDMI 2.1
.799 -> typical except for a Zeus in the box is
.04 -> a four to one 12v hpwr cable which needs
.04 -> to be connected to four yes four
.56 -> separate eight pin cables from your
.959 -> power supply unit three can work but
.72 -> with reduced performance hence why Zotac
.18 -> recommends at least 1000 watt though 850
.78 -> watts can be efficient if four separate
.599 -> cables seems like misery you could
.639 -> always get an aftermarket cable such as
.68 -> the Corsair 12v hpwr as attorney needs
.86 -> two eight pinners whatever you choose
.139 -> just make sure everything is fully
.3 -> plugged in or risk damage check and
.72 -> check again speaking of power unlike the
.419 -> cheaper Zotac Trinity RTX 1490 the amp
.84 -> extreme Arrow has a 24 plus 4 vrm not
.68 -> the absolute best in class but
.9 -> definitely top tier not that it matters
.3 -> because the RTX 1490 benefits little
.12 -> from overclocking in fact many owners
-> under volt to reduce power consumption
.16 -> and lower temperatures with minimal
.68 -> effect on frame rates as for the Zotac
.32 -> amp extreme Aero RTX 1490 design it's
.68 -> ice storm 3.0 cooling system has three
.68 -> 110 millimeter fans that spin in
.56 -> alternate directions to reduce
.18 -> turbulence and noise there is also a
.82 -> vapored chamber and a three pin RGB
.4 -> header for connecting an RGB strip said
.28 -> Vapor chamber is connected to nine heat
.44 -> pipes and a gigantic metal heatsink
.9 -> which help cool the GPU vrm and memory
.96 -> chips meanwhile a metal backplate
.24 -> provides a nice look and improves
.58 -> structural agility less impressive is
.22 -> the 495 watt power limit making it
.4 -> weaker for overclocking than the Nvidia
.56 -> Founders Edition although other
.3 -> manufacturers have opted to play it safe
.46 -> and the performance difference is a few
.74 -> percent at best you could flash another
.08 -> bios for access to more power as I have
.72 -> seen on a few PC Enthusiast forums
.36 -> though only overclocking score Chasers
.58 -> will benefit an extra 150 watts of
.28 -> electric for three to five percent frame
.62 -> rate gains just seems unnecessary
.82 -> now unique to the 40s series is nvidia's
-> DLS S3 option for reaching 4K 120 frames
.84 -> per second and Beyond and games support
.3 -> it it can be essential and the feature
.3 -> is less visually noticeable than you
.22 -> might think what does it do exactly well
.68 -> without getting too complicated DLS S3
.319 -> uses artificial intelligence flavor of
.84 -> the month to render a third frame which
.72 -> it inserts between the preceding and
.819 -> subsequent frames yes it is drawing its
.639 -> own interpretation of what is happening
.56 -> on screen based on what has happened
.539 -> already because this rendering process
.88 -> is less Hardware intensive it means you
.46 -> can enjoy a higher frame rate in faster
.1 -> moving games DLS S3 is at its weakest
.28 -> because it may not always guess the
.9 -> frame accurately enough and user
.12 -> interface information can get a tad
.1 -> messy though many of us would never
.139 -> notice in cyberpunk 2077 I would say the
.86 -> ability to hit 60 frames per second with
.96 -> Ray tracing and path tracing on as
.78 -> opposed to 30 to 40 frames per second
.94 -> ensures the pros outweigh the cons for
.819 -> high frame rate monitors in GPU
.68 -> demanding games it is essential
.12 -> now some early issues with zotac's
.819 -> Firestorm software meant some users were
.4 -> unable to use RGB however this bug was
.28 -> ironed out by late February Firestorm is
.4 -> easy to use with an OC Scanner feature
.22 -> for utilizing a basic overclock and
.099 -> controls for maximum power and
.08 -> temperature limits there are three
.639 -> profiles you can use to save your custom
.62 -> core voltage and memory clocks having
.5 -> run the OC Scanner I was recommended to
.199 -> run the memory at plus 200 megahertz and
.56 -> nothing else a conservative increase
.419 -> well below what I have seen other owners
.94 -> running 24 7 Firestorm also includes a
-> dual bios option like on other RTX 1490s
.66 -> amplify offers maximum performance while
.66 -> quiet takes things down a notch to
.699 -> reduce fan noise a backplates RGB light
.16 -> displays red for amplify and blue for
.62 -> quiet you can also use a physical button
.66 -> on the GPU to swap between each Bios
.24 -> mode the fourth tab Spectra not the evil
.66 -> organization and James Bond is where you
.58 -> can adjust the RGB lighting there are
.74 -> numerous animated and static effects
.02 -> each one featuring brightness and speed
.479 -> adjustment or you can switch it all off
.759 -> each of the five zones can be customized
.039 -> together all separately providing
.139 -> aesthetic flexibility sadly the color
.02 -> palette is limited yellow and white and
.539 -> not really a thing for instance the
.82 -> difficulty in controlling individual
.44 -> areas and the seemingly useless nature
.719 -> of idle versus active loses Firestorm
.6 -> more points as does the cheap looking
-> and unchangeable Spider-Man design it is
.06 -> also a shame that the RGB lighting can
.7 -> only be controlled via Firestorm as
.339 -> opposed to core says IQ or equivalence
.8 -> overall I prefer MSI afterburner for
.16 -> overclocking
.86 -> in an office at 25 degrees Celsius
.959 -> according to my prusa Mark III S Plus
.3 -> printer the Zotac amp extreme error RTX
.24 -> 1490 idles at 35.1 degrees Celsius with
.98 -> lows of 31.7 degrees Celsius and highs
.86 -> of 46.3 degrees Celsius while running
.44 -> Firefox HW info Adobe Photoshop 2023 and
.88 -> other non-gaming software the memory
.86 -> Junction meanwhile sits between 34 and
.44 -> 40 degrees C The Hot Spot temperature is
.26 -> between 2 and 3 degrees Celsius higher
.6 -> run the fans at their minimum 30 speed
-> continuously as I do and all
.519 -> temperatures are at least 7 degrees
.32 -> lower whether or not it makes sense is
.72 -> debatable for me it is easier to replace
.42 -> a fan than a circuit board and the extra
.12 -> airflow helps with CPU temperatures I
.82 -> also never noticed the extra fan noise
.92 -> in my anodis AI Crystal M case during
.1 -> gaming desk stranding at 4K 60 frames
.56 -> per second with everything maxed out at
.72 -> the same room temperature results in a
.12 -> maximum of 46.3 degrees C for the
.7 -> graphics card 52 degrees C for the
.74 -> memory Junction and 51.4 for the hot
.26 -> spot positively chilly compared with my
.72 -> Asus RTX 3080 snow Runner with Peak
.66 -> visual settings at 4K sits at around 55
.54 -> degrees C while the fan noise is
.76 -> imperceptible Microsoft flight simulator
.74 -> is handled similarly well with
.839 -> temperatures averaging around the same
.88 -> level less intensive 3D and racing games
.7 -> such as MotoGP 23 are factor 2
.339 -> automobile Lister 2 and project cars 2
.1 -> barely breached 40 degrees celsius
.2 -> sometimes which is remarkable of course
.14 -> cyberpunk 2077 at Peak could push into
.079 -> the 60s during the heaviest scenes even
.899 -> with a modest overclock the Zotac amp
.839 -> extreme Aero remains well below its 84
.899 -> degrees Celsius thermal limit this is
.18 -> despite the fact my GPU is mounted
.279 -> vertically about two inches away from
.68 -> the glass side panel any closer and
.899 -> airflow is impede it you may see even
.36 -> better results depending on case
.16 -> configuration
.1 -> now the important bit how does the Zotac
.68 -> amp extreme Aero RTX 1490 perform in
.399 -> driving games to find out I played a
.1 -> variety of games at 4K 60 frames per
.68 -> second all settings maxed out with GPU
.62 -> utilization temperature and other info
.32 -> on screen basically you should not see a
.62 -> drop in frame rate despite the fact I am
.899 -> also recording in 4k using OBS software
.1 -> simultaneously 4K just a reminder is 8
.019 -> 284 000 pixels all of which are
.899 -> refreshed 60 times per second or more
.899 -> crazy when you think about it earn
.7 -> Testament to how powerful the RTX 1490
.519 -> is as it turns out running every game in
.22 -> my collection maxed out at 4K is rarely
.279 -> an issue for these zota KMP extreme Aero
.56 -> RTX 1490 WRC generations and dirt rally
.8 -> 2.0 are gloriously detailed and stable
.16 -> moving towards tarmac Seto Corsa
.86 -> competition automobile Lister 2 f122 123
-> MotoGP 23 project cars 2 are factor 2
.66 -> and recfest all achieve maxed out 4K
.66 -> 60fps cyberpunk 2077 is stable at 4K
.56 -> 60fps Ultra with all but that silly
.44 -> psycho Shadow setting enabled 30 to 45
.32 -> frames per second is hardly bad either
.3 -> with Ray tracing on though DLS S3 saves
.36 -> the day here for smooth gaming at 60fps
.94 -> even with path tracing enabled which the
.94 -> menu describes as a technology preview
.98 -> DLS S3 ensures only a few dips below
.339 -> 60fps poorly optimized snow Runner
.92 -> proves to be smooth most of the time
.899 -> with only the odd stutter Dakar desert
.66 -> Rally from a subsidiary of the snow
.579 -> Runner maker struggles more it looks
.279 -> stunning but there are too many
.6 -> performance drops even with such a
.88 -> weapon of a GPU if anything this
.639 -> highlights that future games May well
.38 -> push the RTX 1490 beyond what it can
.139 -> manage now partly because of lazy
.3 -> developer optimization but also advances
.88 -> in fancy lighting effects with dlss3
-> taking up the slack
.399 -> foreign the sheer graphical punch of the
.7 -> RTX 1490 it is no surprise that I am
.88 -> able to run Microsoft flight simulator
.62 -> VR at high settings without seeing the
.62 -> frame rate drop much below 90 frames per
.2 -> second the maximum of the HP Reverb G2
.139 -> this is a CPU intensive game admittedly
.66 -> and the AMD ryzen 5950x is no slouch yet
.38 -> with the RTX 3080 I had most visual
.38 -> options dialed back here I could go for
.079 -> extremely high settings even without a
.48 -> more powerful am5 CPU Half-Life Alex
.54 -> meanwhile is served up in a way that
-> really showcases Modern Day graphics and
.3 -> virtual reality at its best here the RTX
.24 -> 1490 does its thing effortlessly it is
.06 -> the same story in the peaceful and
.8 -> pretty kayak VR where everything maxed
.5 -> out is no problem at all other racing
.019 -> games are also more than happy in VR
.24 -> with that high resolution of the Reverb
.279 -> G2 more than catered For I would still
.74 -> not recommend VR wholehearted as I think
.44 -> more technology advances are required
.899 -> but the immersion is impressive
.3 -> [Music]
.579 -> foreign
.86 -> [Music]
.18 -> TX 1490 is a hotly debated graphics card
.66 -> and I can understand why ignoring Titan
.3 -> cards and top end 30 series offerings it
.3 -> is an absurdly expensive way to make
.06 -> games look better you can get great
.04 -> visuals even at 4K 60 frames per second
.38 -> for Less unless you want the best
.899 -> settings but you have to remember that
.12 -> accounting for inflation and sheer grunt
-> the RTX 1490 is actually good value yes
.72 -> really it can do what no other graphics
.06 -> card has done before it while staying
.22 -> cool quiet and power efficient in Zotac
.339 -> amp extreme Aero RTX 1494 it also
.82 -> happens to be backed up by a five-year
.98 -> warranty has zero coil wine performance
.56 -> as strong as most of its Rivals and a
.139 -> unique look never did I imagine I would
.48 -> spend 1 430 pounds on a single PC
.74 -> component let alone have zero regrets
.62 -> basically for 25 pounds every month over
.199 -> five years is I can max out virtually
.779 -> every game I think it is worth it I
.36 -> would understand if you disagree
.279 -> especially given current Energy prices
.38 -> inflation and Rising temperatures an
.44 -> Xbox series X or PS5 can be as fun and
.74 -> less hassle than a gaming PC it is
.38 -> however that virtually I must Circle
.079 -> back to it stings most when a GPU such
.019 -> as the RTX 1490 is unable to wear every
.139 -> game like a hat and I would be sad to
.3 -> see the likes of dlss3 and sheer GPU
.12 -> grunt encourage development laziness too
.24 -> long didn't watch for those who crave
.16 -> the best visuals fast frame rates and
.74 -> Peak virtual reality there really is no
.56 -> other option high-end low effort gaming
.38 -> is best served by the RTX 1490 and Zotac
.579 -> sizable and curvy card has so far never
.42 -> skipped a beat
.14 -> [Music]
.899 -> all right
