Simple Design. If you’re looking for front seats to put in your Jeep, this Rugged Ridge Reclining Front Seat is a simple solution. You get a factory-like, basic seat that doesn’t have an adjustable headrest, high back, or extra bolstering. Also, you aren’t going to get a cutout for a 5-point harness. What it will do is recline backward, almost all the way to where the seat is flat, which is a nice feature. Overall, the lack of features keeps the cost down. This seat will fit in any 1987 to 2002 Jeep Wrangler YJ or TJ.

Durable Construction. The frame of this seat is made of steel, with a black powder coat finish over the top for durability. You also get metal springs, plus padding, and an automotive-grade vinyl upholstery. That makes cleaning your seat easier, even if you get mud or dirt all over it.

Straightforward to Install. This is a simple job, no matter if you have a YJ or TJ. If you have a YJ, this seat will bolt up right to the factory seat adapter. With a TJ, you’ll have to get an additional adapter. You’ll need just basic hand tools, such as sockets. Plan on spending about an hour of your time, per seat you want to install.

2.07 -> This is going to be one of Rugged Ridge's most basic, factory-like seats that they offer.
8.149 -> Now this seat isn't going to have a ton of additional bolstering, it doesn't have an
11.74 -> adjustable or a really high back, there's no cut-out for a five-point harness.
16.59 -> So again, fairly simple seat, fairly basic, but also going to be an upgrade over an old
21.72 -> beat out, worn out seat that you might currently have in your YJ or early TJ.
27.189 -> This is going to be a reclining seat, which in my opinion is a really nice feature.
31.939 -> Unless you're somebody who's doing some really hardcore off-roading, has a full set of five-point
36.44 -> harnesses and doesn't want the recliner as a weak point in case of a rollover, I think
41.23 -> the recliner is going to be a really nice feature.
44.1 -> It just makes it a lot more comfortable for you to sit in the seat.
47.57 -> Now, something else to look at when you're considering an aftermarket seat is whether
51.219 -> you need an adapter or not.
52.949 -> Again, if you're putting this is your YJ, this is gonna bolt up right to your factory
56.72 -> seat adapter.
57.72 -> In your TJ, you are going to have to purchase an additional adapter.
60.809 -> So keep that in mind when factoring in the cost of this seat and what your budget is.
65.17 -> Now these seats, because they are one of the more simple models from Rugged Ridge, they
69.24 -> don't have quite as many features as some of the others, they are going to be a little
72.64 -> bit less expensive as well.
74.24 -> As for construction, this is going to be a black powder-coated steel frame seat with
78.99 -> metal springs.
79.99 -> It's going to, of course, be covered in padding and then finally covered in this automotive
84.17 -> grade vinyl material, which is designed to be cleaned very easily.
87.61 -> Of course, getting in and out of your Jeep, especially on the trail, there's a good chance
91.08 -> you might be a little bit dirty, and this seat is going to clean up pretty easily for
94.75 -> you.
95.75 -> Of course, this does have that full reclinability.
97.94 -> In fact, these ship in a rectangular box, which is a little bit surprising when you
102.149 -> first see it.
103.149 -> But this seat will completely recline almost completely flat, which does give you a ton
108.02 -> of adjustability so you can really get yourself comfortable in this seat.
111.659 -> Now this seat is gonna have a little bit of bolstering, but nothing like some of the other
115.56 -> versions of the Rugged Ridge seats, or some of the other seats out there on the market.
119.869 -> Now if you are looking for a seat that's really gonna hold you tight when you're going around
123.729 -> corners, or when you're in those off-camber situations off-road, then maybe you wanna
127.38 -> look at one of the other models of a Rugged Ridge, or a different brand seat that does
131.63 -> have some additional bolstering.
132.83 -> Again, this is going to be more akin to a factory replacement style seat, and doesn't
137.56 -> have quite as many features as some of the more expensive seats out there.
140.86 -> I am giving the installation of these seats a very simple one out of three wrenches, and
144.781 -> you will be able to get this done in about an hour per seat with just some hand tools.
149.4 -> Now if you're installing this in your YJ, it's a very simple matter of unbolting your
152.71 -> factory seats, unbolting your factory frame from that factory seat, bolt your new seat
157.66 -> onto your factory frame, and bolt everything back into the Jeep.
161.09 -> If you're installing this in your TJ, of course you'll still have to remove your factory seats
165.09 -> and frames and then you'll have to use an adapter to install this seat into your new
170.03 -> Jeep, and that is something you're going to have to purchase separately.
172.74 -> Regardless of what year your Jeep is, this is going to bolt in without any major modifications
176.71 -> or any drilling to do, so again very easy install that anyone can do in their driveway.
181.15 -> These seats come in at right around $235 each, and if you do have to purchase an adapter
185.93 -> for your TJ, you are gonna have a little bit more into these.
189.55 -> However, if you consider what a premium seat costs, you're still going to be well under
195.01 -> that.
196.01 -> And that price difference is mostly because of features, not necessarily because of quality.
200.26 -> I do think that this is still going to be a really well-built seat, especially for the
204.51 -> price.
205.51 -> So that's my review of the Rugged Ridge reclining front seat, fitting your 1987 to 2002 Wrangler,
209.6 -> that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
