Ford Fiesta ST Line Review

Ford Fiesta ST Line Review

Ford Fiesta ST Line Review

The Ford Fiesta is no longer the UK’s best-selling car. In fact, it’s not even Ford’s best-selling car in the UK.

Until fairly recently, the Ford Fiesta was the UK’s best-selling car, and had been for as long as anyone could remember. However, the well-documented worldwide microchip shortage, combined with buyers’ current preference for SUVs leading Ford into the decision to concentrate its production efforts on the Puma, allowed the Vauxhall Corsa to steal in and nick the Fiesta’s number one spot.

However, Ford isn’t going to have that for long, and with this new facelifted version of the Fiesta, which features a new look, new technology and revised trim levels, Ford will be hoping to reclaim its crown from the Corsa.

In this CarGurus UK video review, Rebecca Jackson takes a detailed look at the refreshed Fiesta, evaluating its quality, technology, practicality, what it’s like to drive and what kind of value for money it gives you.

-> you don't really need any introduction
.8 -> for this card do you the Ford Fiesta was
.2 -> number one in the UK sales charts for 12
.6 -> years until 2021. yeah chip shortages
.08 -> and a shift in buyer demands towards
.24 -> crossovers meant that Ford's
.099 -> best-selling car in the UK in 2021 was
.22 -> the Ford Puma the Ford Fiesta didn't
.619 -> even make it into the top ten but does
.84 -> this mean time's up for Ford Super Mini
.88 -> they don't think so because the car has
.98 -> had a design refresh and is Keen for
.199 -> your custom the most obvious changes are
.779 -> visual the badge has moved to the nose
.239 -> there's a higher Bonnet line and a
.18 -> restyled headlight design at the rear
.239 -> there's also restyling done to the tail
.76 -> lights back to these lights LEDs are
.82 -> standard and if you go for the Matrix
.1 -> LEDs which are really clever because
.379 -> they will dip automatically without you
.02 -> having to dip your main beam and they're
.52 -> an 850 pound option talking of which
.92 -> price is perhaps a reason for the
.719 -> Fiesta's comparative lack of popularity
.579 -> even the cheapest model is now more than
.8 -> nineteen thousand pounds a skoda Fabia
.26 -> or Hyundai i20 represents much better
.54 -> value for money that's partly because
.52 -> there's not really any such thing as a
.74 -> base spec Fiesta even the entry-level
.02 -> Trend comes with 16 inch allo wheels
.479 -> these are 18 by the way cruise control
.939 -> air conditioning eight inch touchscreen
.82 -> and a heated front screen
.799 -> moving up the trim levels brings more
.14 -> equipment and more cost next up the
.479 -> ladder is titanium which is roughly
.159 -> equal to the sporty St line trim you can
.979 -> add luxury with vignali packs to either
.32 -> Titanium or St line trims while the
.14 -> active model adds SUV style design
.54 -> tweaks this car is a nearly
.7 -> range-topping St line X which comes in
.159 -> at a pretty Punchy 26
.4 -> 355 pounds or nearly 29 000 pounds with
.34 -> options the trim levels may be complex
.68 -> but the engine lineup is not fiestas
.619 -> have been petrolony since 2020 and with
.619 -> the exception of the St hot hatch they
.38 -> are all now powered by a one liter
.6 -> three-cylinder turbocharged ecoboost
.82 -> engine
.079 -> this car comes with either 100
-> horsepower or with mild hybrid
.16 -> assistance and 125 horsepower sadly the
.76 -> 155 horsepower version of the engine
.8 -> which you can still get in the Puma has
.72 -> been dropped from the range often hybrid
.239 -> Tech eats into Beach space not so with
.819 -> the fiesta because there is 311 liters
.48 -> worth of boot space here which is the
.12 -> same as the non-hybrid version which is
.879 -> to say a reasonable size but a little
.04 -> way short of the 380 liters of room in a
.739 -> skoda fabia's boot
.42 -> space back here is reasonable but it's
.7 -> hardly what you would call accommodating
.64 -> Headroom is a little tight as is leg
.8 -> room and shoulder room is also going to
.2 -> be a bit squishy especially if you've
.459 -> got three sitting side by side in a
.5 -> fiesta the best place to be is the
.48 -> driver's seat and the reasons are first
.239 -> of all it is great to drive which I'll
.98 -> show you soon and second of all there
.44 -> are some genuine big car luxuries these
.959 -> days
.8 -> as we've mentioned even basic cars are
.2 -> very well specced and higher end models
-> like this one get climate control a
.92 -> digital instrument cluster and cruise
.72 -> control which in this car has been
.64 -> upgraded to adaptive cruise control
.4 -> everything's well laid out and the build
.98 -> quality is on a par with a Volkswagen
.8 -> Polo and we mean that very much so as a
.08 -> compliment the sync 3 touchscreen is
.78 -> responsive slick and easy to use and top
.599 -> marks here Ford because there is a
.64 -> physical control for the volume and
.04 -> climate control settings
.5 -> the seats are generally comfortable too
.42 -> although the absence of adjustable
.04 -> Lumber support is annoying and the side
.019 -> support isn't the best
.76 -> foreign
.599 -> St line cars get sportier stiffer
.84 -> suspension which does make the fiesta
.879 -> impressively agile but it does make it
.519 -> also a little bit bouncy in urban areas
.159 -> so if you're spending most of your time
.019 -> driving around town you might want to go
.239 -> for the slightly softer sprung titanium
.94 -> model
.2 -> if you're lucky enough to spend more
.819 -> time on quiet Country Roads though the
.5 -> fiesta is a joy with accurate feeling
.36 -> steering very little body leaning
.98 -> corners and confidence inspiring breaks
.26 -> the seven-speed automatic gearbox is
.72 -> smooth and responsive but it's odd there
.78 -> are no wheel mounted paddles not even a
.54 -> sport mode for more urge and gear
.88 -> changes
.979 -> still we know from experience that the
.96 -> six-speed manual is genuinely excellent
.94 -> so we'd stick with that unless you
.62 -> really want to avoid having to bother
.94 -> with a clutch the 125 horsepower
.139 -> ecoboost engine is sufficiently powerful
-> to make the St line Fiesta feel like a
.12 -> mini hot hatch fuel economy is perhaps a
.88 -> little less impressive Ford claims a
.8 -> respectable 50 miles per gallon but we
.6 -> saw fuel economy in the low 40s during
.639 -> our time with a car which isn't bad but
.16 -> a little way off what Ford claims
.3 -> foreign
.44 -> was already a great car Ford's Twigs
.9 -> have been understandably subtle The
.479 -> Styling refresh definitely helps to keep
.82 -> it current it's still a great car to
.979 -> drive it's just a shame that there's
.96 -> only two engine choices outside the St
.199 -> hot hatch and there aren't really any
.6 -> Bargain Basement models to choose from
.4 -> still if you want a super mini that
.68 -> looks good and is fun to drive then your
.96 -> search should probably end here but what
.6 -> do you think let us know in the comments
.28 -> below and if you're considering buying a
.08 -> Ford Fiesta or indeed any car head to
.8 -> cargurus.co.uk to find loads of great
.12 -> cars for sale from top rated dealers and
.58 -> with our super clever pricing technology

-> deal or not
