The Best Double Strollers - Reviewed & Tested

We tested the top values in double strollers over the last ten months, and these are our picks.

After weeks of comparing all of the double strollers we could find reviews for or get our hands on, we bought three value-priced (but not cheap) strollers with different strengths.

These strollers aren’t the most luxurious you can get, but they’re a real step up from the entry-level competition, with the upgrades you need. Also, these strollers meet the new size limits imposed at Disney theme parks, and they’ll even fit in the trunk of a Corolla!

This video highlights what we found when testing the three best double strollers in our full review.

Update: since we shot this video and completed our long-term testing, Britax updated the B-Agile. The new B-Lively brings back car seat adaptors for Britax-made car seats, and the storage pouch is a little bit bigger. Otherwise, it’s the same great stroller.

We buy everything we test ourselves and don’t monetize these videos, but we get a commission from retailers if you buy through our links. Thanks for supporting honest reviews!

Best Overall, Best Handling: Britax - B-Agile
[Note: 2019’s update, the B-Lively, is a minor improvement, bringing back the car seat adaptor.]

See it on Amazon: https://geni.us/BritaxBLively
• The easiest to push around and maneuver—turns on a dime easily
• Adjustable handlebar makes pushing easier if you’re tall or short
• Square folded shape makes the best use of trunk space
• Side-by-side type means no restrictions on legroom, but 31” width won’t fit through some doors
• Britax only sells a car seat adapter for their own system

Best for Toddler and Newborn: Joovy - Caboose Too Ultralight

See it on Amazon: https://geni.us/joovy
• Rear seat converts to a bench to accommodate growing kids
• Front seat fully reclines and converts to hold a car seat
• Less than 22 inches wide: easy to put in the trunk and get through doorways
• Tight turns are tricky
• Car seat cradle is strap-down only, not as convenient as a snap-in system

Best for Twins: Contours - Options Elite

See it on Amazon: https://geni.us/contours
• Versatile seating options: Seats can be mounted forward or rear-facing, even facing each other
• Adapters available to carry any car seat in both positions, with click-in adaptors for most brands
• Good compromise between easy pushing and narrow width
• Maneuverability is OK for the size, the large tires help smooth out bumps
• Bulky when folded, but fits in a compact sedan trunk if you take the seats off

73.81 -> The best side-by-side stroller: The Britax B-Agile.
77.95 -> Our budget pick: the Joovy-Caboose Too Ultralight.
81.96 -> And, our pick for twins: the Contours- Options Elite.
86.58 -> This was a tricky test project
88.23 -> because different strollers suit different situations.
91.6 -> We narrowed down our tests to categorize our top picks.
95.02 -> After a weeks worth of internet research,
97.27 -> interviewing other parents, hands-on time at retailers,
100.8 -> and careful consideration of prices and features,
103.55 -> our team of parents put these strollers to work.
106.26 -> We looked for an array of reasonable, but tricky situations
109.61 -> like parking lot rumble strips, broken sidewalks,
113.3 -> tight doorways, and drugstore aisles
116.02 -> to see how the strollers fare in the real world.
119.94 -> From there, we tested how easily they fit in a car trunk,
123.14 -> and tried the strollers out with a three year old,
125.5 -> and a five month old to test the full range
128.22 -> of height and recline options.
137.18 -> Before we cover our top picks,
139.32 -> here are some general features that we found important
142.62 -> when comparing the best strollers.
144.92 -> We chose strollers that prioritized Compact Folding,
148.31 -> and light weight.
149.8 -> Double strollers aren't just for twins.
151.88 -> With the right seat design,
153.44 -> it can accommodate an age gap
155.37 -> when you would normally have to think about
156.85 -> two different strollers.
158.51 -> Finally, there are two variations of double strollers.
162.4 -> Side-by-side strollers have wide frames
165.44 -> to accommodate two kids next to each other,
167.74 -> while tandem strollers have a seat in front and one in back,
171.9 -> making them longer.
173.33 -> Side-by-side strollers are easier to turn
175.88 -> because of their wide frames,
177.6 -> but this can also make them tricky to fit in smaller spaces.
181.31 -> Now, on to our best picks.
183.2 -> The Britax B-Agile Double Stroller
185.45 -> was the best value we could find in a side-by-side stroller,
189.02 -> and after extended testing, it's our top pick overall.
192.61 -> A lightweight stroller,
193.89 -> this side-by-side model was the easiest for our testers
196.81 -> to push around and maneuver.
198.88 -> The side-by-side structure means
200.54 -> there's no restriction on legroom, great for growing kids.
204.08 -> The handlebar height quickly adjusts
206.57 -> to make things easy for parents of all heights,
209.51 -> which is something you usually only see
211.11 -> on premium strollers.
213.12 -> Plus, the Britax folded easily,
215.67 -> and fits in a small car, no problem.
218.33 -> No mean feat for such a roomy stroller.
221.44 -> This is a great feature if you don't own a minivan,
223.75 -> or other large vehicle.
225.43 -> The downside to any side-by-side stroller is width.
229.11 -> While most doorways should be compatible
231.55 -> with the Americans for Disabilities Act at 32 inches,
235.16 -> not every doorway everywhere is.
238.18 -> Plus, narrow sidewalks and store aisles,
241.11 -> or even crowded areas can be tricky to navigate
243.8 -> with a side-by-side.
245.35 -> If you need a stroller that will work with a car seat,
248.16 -> this one doesn't.
249.65 -> Unfortunately, after a recall,
251.91 -> Britax discontinued it's car seat adapter,
254.72 -> so you'll have to transfer your baby out of the car seat
258.02 -> before you can go for a walk.
259.97 -> The Britax seats do recline lower
262.05 -> than anything else we've seen, though,
263.86 -> so this stroller is still great for newborns.
266.874 -> (gentle guitar music)
277.04 -> Our versatile value pick happens to be a tandem stroller,
281.5 -> the Joovy Caboose Too Ultra Light.
284.14 -> Coming in at around $200, this stroller changes
287.65 -> between five different seat options
289.84 -> to accommodate growing kids and your budget.
293.51 -> Tight turns are tricky
294.82 -> due to the narrow wheel base and long design,
297.89 -> but the Joovy is easy to fold, store, put in the trunk,
301.94 -> and fit through doorways.
308.18 -> While this stroller will take a car seat,
310.57 -> its strap-down system is a little tricky to get set up,
314.44 -> but it won't come loose once you get it set.
316.916 -> (mellow music)
333.35 -> What double stroller lineup would be complete
335.42 -> without the best pick for twins?
337.75 -> Enter the Contours Options Elite.
340.8 -> Flexible seating arrangements are great
342.68 -> when you have two kids of the same size.
345.29 -> Each seat reclines, and has lots of headroom,
348.26 -> so everyone can ride comfortably,
350.53 -> and growing kids can be accommodated.
353.6 -> Universal car seat cradles,
355.16 -> and even click-in adapters for most car seats
357.8 -> are available with the Contours,
359.72 -> so you aren't stuck buying one brand of seat
361.99 -> to match the stroller.
363.58 -> When it comes to getting it in the car,
365.45 -> or around a tight doorway, though,
367.86 -> this stroller has its drawbacks.
370.52 -> Wide wheels and all that adjustment range for the seats
373.48 -> are great features when getting around town,
375.76 -> but they make this double stroller tricky to fold,
378.51 -> and it's also tight getting it into the trunk.
381.806 -> (gentle music)
394.84 -> This was a tough review.
396.24 -> There are so many double strollers.
398.73 -> Overall, the Britax took our top spot,
401.92 -> but the Joovy and Contours have great features
404.59 -> that may make one of them your favorite.
