0.06 -> Hi everyone, Kevin here. Today we're going to
look at how you can connect from a PC, a phone,
6.84 -> or a tablet to another PC. This is perfect if you
want to access one of your devices from a remote
14.82 -> location, or maybe you want to help a relative
with a computer problem. We've all been there.
22.14 -> Once you connect to your device, you have full
control. You can use the mouse and keyboard,
27.96 -> you can listen to the audio, you can even
upload and download files from that device.
34.02 -> Best of all, this is completely free and it's a
tool made by Google called Chrome Remote Desktop.
42.3 -> Let's check out how this works. To get started,
head to the following website on the computer
47.46 -> that you would like to connect to. You can click
on the link in the top right-hand corner or the
52.74 -> link down below in the description of this video.
On this website, on the left-hand side, make sure
59.22 -> that you're in the remote access view. And right
here, let's click on the blue download button.
65.7 -> This works on any Chromium-based browser. It'll
work on Google Chrome and also Microsoft Edge.
70.8 -> Let's click on download. Once the file finishes
downloading, simply click on it to kick off the
77.16 -> install. Next, we need to give the computer a
name and here it simply goes with kevindesktop.
82.56 -> That sounds reasonable to me. I'll click on next.
And here, you also need to select a pin. You'll
89.04 -> enter in this pin when you want to connect to this
computer. Then down below, let's click on start.
94.08 -> And this computer is now all ready to be connected
to. Here I am now on a different PC and right up
101.04 -> above, I'll head to that same website address that
we went to earlier. Once I land on this page, here
107.58 -> I can see the Kevin desktop and to connect to that
PC, all I have to do is simply click on it. Next,
114.06 -> I need to enter my pin. I'll type that in. Down
below, I can check this box to remember my pin on
120.06 -> this device so I don't have to enter it in again
in the future. Over here, I'll click on this blue
124.68 -> icon to connect. And check that out! I have now
connected remotely to my other PC. I can move my
132.54 -> mouse around. Over here, I can launch files and I
could even type in text using my keyboard and that
138.84 -> shows up on the remote computer. I have full and
complete control over this computer. Over on the
146.16 -> right-hand side, if we click on this icon, this
exposes all of the different settings. Up on top,
152.1 -> you can pin the settings so they stay up all
the time. Over here, you can disconnect or end
157.68 -> your session. And over here, you could launch
into full-screen mode. That way, it truly feels
162.54 -> immersive like you are on the other computer.
Right down here, you have a few different session
167.88 -> options. You could scale to fit. You could also
resize to fit and then you have smooth scaling.
172.62 -> So, a few different options that affect the
way the screen looks. Down below, you can also
177.18 -> adjust the video codec and there are two different
options. There's VP8 and also VP9. VP9 is a newer
185.04 -> codec that gives you better quality and also uses
less bandwidth, but it is more resource intensive
190.5 -> on your computer. You can experiment with those
to see which one works better for you. Down below,
195.66 -> you could also choose the frame rate. The higher
you go, the more bandwidth that it will consume.
201.12 -> Right over here, you could also set whether
you want system keys to come through. Here,
205.32 -> for example, you can press control, alt, delete,
which launches the task manager. Do you want it
210.78 -> to launch on the remote PC or do you want it
to launch on the PC that you're currently on?
214.86 -> You can configure that here. And down below,
you could also adjust various key mappings.
220.02 -> One of my favorite features, right here, you
can also transfer files between your current
225.12 -> PC and your remote PC. You can upload a file or
send a file to your remote PC or you can download
231.72 -> a file from your remote PC to the PC that you're
currently on. And there are a few other settings
237.06 -> here as well. Along with being able to connect
to your devices, you can also connect to other
242.94 -> people's devices or you can have someone else
connect to your device. Back on the Chrome remote
248.4 -> desktop site, over on the left-hand side, let's
click on remote support, and right up on top,
254.76 -> if you would like someone else to connect to your
PC, click on this button that says generate code,
260.46 -> and you can provide this code to the other person
and they'll be able to connect your computer.
265.68 -> They will come in and right at the bottom, here
you can type in that access code and then click
271.08 -> on connect. Before being able to connect though,
the person's computer who you're connecting to
276.96 -> will need to approve the request. One of the
great things about remote desktop is you can
281.94 -> also connect to a PC from a phone or a tablet,
and this works with both iOS and also Android.
289.08 -> To install the app on your phone, search for
the Chrome Remote Desktop app on either the
295.26 -> App Store or the Play Store. Once you finish
installing the app, you'll see an interface
299.94 -> that looks like this. And right up on top, you
should see all of your different remote devices
304.44 -> that you have configured. Simply click on it and
that will now connect to that device. Down here,
310.02 -> you'll need to enter your PIN. Here too, you
can also set it so your phone remembers your
315.42 -> PIN. I'll click on the blue icon to connect. And
look at that, my phone is now connected to my PC
321.6 -> and here I can move around my PC by interacting
with my phone. Of course, for a better experience,
327.36 -> I can rotate my phone into landscape mode
and here I see my entire desktop on my phone
333.12 -> screen. In the bottom right-hand corner, I can
click on this hamburger menu and this opens up
338.7 -> a few different settings. Right up on top,
I could show the keyboard. I can change the
342.72 -> trackpad mode. Currently it's set to touch, but
I could also set it so I can move a mouse cursor.
348.54 -> Right here, I can disconnect and I
also have some additional settings.
352.86 -> When I click into this, I can resize the desktop
so it fits on my mobile display and here too, we
358.32 -> could also adjust the mouse options. Down at the
very bottom, I can also launch various shortcut
363.42 -> key combinations. All right, well that's how easy
it is to remotely access another computer. To
369.9 -> watch more videos like this one, please consider
