0.16 -> The entire blogging industry has changed so much and is changing rapidly,
4.93 -> even right now! What used to work in terms
7.2 -> of keyword research, or some of you might call it topic
9.77 -> research, may not work now and maybe not in the future.
12.93 -> It is either you adapt or you get phased out.
15.88 -> And if you are using expensive keyword
17.72 -> research tools, maybe you can start considering reducing your expenses.
21.64 -> So in this video, we will share with you
23.37 -> the keyword research strategies that are free and they still work,
26.32 -> and we are also going to talk about the newest method to do keyword research
29.81 -> that is much faster and more efficient than the existing methods.
33.77 -> Any idea what that method is?
35.81 -> It's ChatGPT and holy moly!
38.48 -> You're going to love what you see.
39.77 -> And finally, once you've identified those
42.12 -> keywords, I will share with you methods to validate them,
44.84 -> so you know you're starting your blog on the right foot that will lead
47.91 -> to massive traffic growth.
49.57 -> Let's go!
54.2 -> Hey, it's Jack from Rank Math,
55.85 -> the one WordPress SEO plugin that constantly strives to provide you
59.37 -> with the fastest and the most cutting-edge SEO tools.
62.24 -> And on this channel, we provide you with the most up-to-date SEO knowledge.
65.92 -> So if you're new to our channel, consider subscribing.
68.6 -> Anyway, to find good keywords for your blog or website, there are two steps.
72.77 -> The first is keyword discovery.
74.64 -> I will walk you through what are the types
76.35 -> of keywords and all the methods to find highly relevant keywords.
80.13 -> And then the next step is to verify if those keywords you found have search
84.81 -> volume and an acceptable level of competition.
87.24 -> But for now, I need to assume that you are a beginner who doesn't understand
90.8 -> the basics and the different types of keywords.
92.96 -> If you are familiar with it, great!
95.12 -> You can skip ahead using the timestamps in the description.
97.73 -> But if you are new or want to keep
99.49 -> yourself updated, let's start with the keyword basics.
103.17 -> Now, when you write an article and you optimize your article based on one
107.32 -> targeted keyword, your article never really ranks for just one keyword.
112.05 -> It ranks for a range of keywords
113.83 -> that the search engines think are relevant to their searchers.
117.21 -> So sometimes when you are doing keyword
119.37 -> research, you will see keywords with different search volume,
122.49 -> but they all mean the same thing.
124.49 -> For example, "how much can you make
126.81 -> from YouTube", which has a search volume of 600 per month.
130.52 -> And then the keyword, "how much can you make from YouTube
133.2 -> views" has a search volume of 40 per month.
136.37 -> The same goes for "how much can you make from YouTube videos".
139.61 -> But basically, the search intent of these
142.05 -> keywords are the same, how much can someone make from YouTube?
146.53 -> So you do not want to write
148.13 -> one article to target this keyword,
150.13 -> and another article to target another keyword.
154.29 -> You want to write one article that targets one search intent
157.8 -> and hopefully you can rank for all
159.37 -> the other relevant keywords.
160.85 -> I hope you get the meaning because this is so important in terms of keyword research.
165.41 -> You've got to read between the lines.
167.37 -> And when in doubt, do a Google search on similar keywords
170.73 -> and see if the top ten results are almost similar.
173.69 -> Next, we're going to talk about the different types of keywords.
176.97 -> Now, assuming that you are a BBQ retailer,
179.35 -> which means you sell BBQ equipment like grills, smokers, etc. In your blog,
184.32 -> when you find new keywords with the methods I'll be sharing later,
187.28 -> you've got to know which category each of those keywords belong to so that you
191.07 -> can craft the right content to serve the right search intent.
195.09 -> First, we have the "Navigational keywords".
197.89 -> These keywords are when someone is trying to find a specific page on your site.
202.53 -> For example, if your BBQ retail shop is
205.17 -> named "Smokeys" and someone wants to know if you have a refund policy,
209.33 -> they would type "Smokeys refund policy" in the search engines.
213 -> So people who are searching for this type
214.97 -> of keywords already know what they want from your website.
218.24 -> You wouldn't need to do keyword research on this type of keywords.
221.49 -> With some business sense, you should be able to identify what those are.
225.41 -> The next type of keywords is "Informational keywords".
228.44 -> People searching for this type of keywords
230.41 -> want to get information or learn something related to your business or niche.
235.05 -> For example, if somebody types, "how
237.37 -> to grill ribs", they're expecting a how to guide, a step by step guide that will
241.51 -> tell them the equipment they need, the ingredients, sauces,
244.93 -> how long to grill, the tenderness and basically everything.
248.37 -> People searching for these keywords want to
250.69 -> learn something and they do not have a buying intent.
253.45 -> But you may slip some recommendations in the content in case they need them.
257.56 -> So, if you are starting a blog for your
259.22 -> BBQ retail shop, you'll be providing tips and techniques for grilling different
263.16 -> types of meat and you may use internal links to link informational content
267.41 -> to commercial or transactional contents to maximize your profit.
271.48 -> And these are the next two types of keywords. For "Commercial keywords",
276.04 -> they are something like "BBQ Grill reviews",
278.6 -> "Best guess BBQ Grills", "BBQ Grill A versus BBQ Grill B".
283.56 -> People searching for this type of keywords
285.47 -> are in the research phase and depending on their purchase habits,
288.84 -> some may research further and some may buy a product based on your recommendation.
293.97 -> And as for "Transactional keywords",
295.92 -> they are something like "Buy BBQ Grill", "Buy a specific brand of BBQ Grill", "Discount
301.45 -> code for a specific brand of the BBQ Grill".
304.08 -> People searching for these keywords have gone through the research process.
307.4 -> They have made a decision on what product
309.16 -> they want to buy and they are ready to make a purchase.
312.36 -> These are the two types of keywords that will bring sales to your business.
316.25 -> And the final type of keywords that will
318.33 -> also bring sales to your business is the "Local keywords".
322.65 -> For example, if somebody wants to buy
324.8 -> a specific product like "Weber Q 1250 gas grill", but they urgently need the grill,
330.4 -> they may not want to buy it online and wait for the shipment.
333.33 -> They want to visit a local store to get
335.45 -> that grill because they really need it right now.
338.04 -> So they would search for keywords like "buy Weber Q 1250 guest grill near me",
344.13 -> "weber Q 1250 guest grill for sale in San Francisco", etc.
349.73 -> So these are the five types of keywords,
352.48 -> but your next question may probably be since the transactional,
356.41 -> commercial and local keywords can drive sales to your business,
359.89 -> shouldn't we focus everything on these three types of keywords?
363.65 -> The answer? You shouldn't! Because you are limiting your reach.
367.48 -> You should be using your blog as a way
369.15 -> to build a brand, get people to know your business, be the credible source
372.97 -> of information for people interested in your business or niche.
376.21 -> It shouldn't be all about money.
378.44 -> So when you are building a blog for your
380.04 -> business, you should have a holistic approach and it should help your business
383.69 -> grow in a way that is more than just revenue.
386.32 -> All right, now that we know the basics and the types of keywords,
389.36 -> let me quickly go through all the long existing methods to find relevant keywords
393.33 -> for your blog before we talk about ChatGPT.
399 -> If you don't know, Google provides a range of awesome keyword research tools.
403.53 -> You just have to know how to use them.
405.65 -> The first of which is that Google auto
407.92 -> suggests or some veteran SEOs will call it Google Alphabet soup.
412.6 -> How it works is that you will brainstorm a keyword that is relevant to
415.98 -> your business or blog.
417.17 -> And using the same BBQ example,
419.36 -> we can start with a keyword, say "Best BBQ Sauce",
423.77 -> and then you will start typing the alphabet one letter at a time.
427.97 -> As you type, you will notice some keyword suggestions.
433.44 -> These are the keywords that people are searching for on Google and they may be
437.73 -> important to your blog, so you want to jot them down.
440.45 -> You can also add an underscore, let's say "Best _ BBQ Sauce",
445.73 -> and you will see these relevant keywords that are probably important to your blog.
451.24 -> Using this Auto Suggest method, you can add as many keywords into Google
455.73 -> and have Google tell you what people are searching for.
459.25 -> Then the next tool is the "People also ask" section.
463 -> Every keyword that you search
464.45 -> for on Google may have this "People also ask" section.
467.77 -> And as the name suggests,
469.6 -> these are questions that people are asking on Google.
472.65 -> As you expand each of the questions, more relevant suggestions will appear.
477.25 -> You want to jot down those keywords or questions that are important to your blog.
481.65 -> When you're doing keyword research, you want to expand as many questions,
485.57 -> and when you can't find any relevant question, go back up to expand
489.48 -> on questions that are related to your blog and more relevant suggestions will appear.
493.89 -> And when you think you've exhausted this section, go to the search bar and search
498.21 -> for another keyword and go through the same process.
502.45 -> We are pretty sure you will find a lot of keyword suggestions.
505.73 -> And do you know,
506.69 -> as you scroll down the Search Results page, you will see this "Related Searches"
510.79 -> section which may provide you with more keyword ideas.
516 -> Now the next Google tool is the "Google Keyword Planner".
519.81 -> To get this tool, just do a search on Google,
523.13 -> click on the button and provide some information about your business.
529.44 -> Basically you're creating a Google Ads
531.41 -> account, and from there you can access the tool.
536.08 -> If you already have a Google Ads.
537.97 -> Account, just go to the "Tools and Settings" tab.
540.85 -> Under planning you will see the keyword planner tool.
543.96 -> You can discover new keywords by clicking
545.99 -> on this and enter a seed keyword, let's say "BBQ Gas Grills". Get Results
552.61 -> and it will provide you with a list of keywords related to the seed keyword.
556.64 -> It will tell you the search volume of each keyword so you know there are people
560.2 -> searching for the keyword you are targeting.
563.17 -> Now, I won't go into detail of how to use Google Keyword Planner to do keyword
567.24 -> research, otherwise this video is going to be very long.
569.89 -> So if you want to learn more about it, you can check out this page.
573.53 -> The link is in the description.
576.65 -> Now the final Google Tool you can use
578.81 -> for keyword research is the "Site Colon" method.
581.56 -> This works very well if you want to know
583.44 -> what topics your competitors are targeting.
586.2 -> Let's say that this barbecue website amazingribs.com is your competitor.
591.29 -> What you want to do is to copy the site address, go to Google, type in "Site:",
596.44 -> and paste the URL of the site without any spaces.
600.2 -> As you hit Enter, google has found many index pages on this domain.
605.53 -> As you scroll through the results,
607.81 -> you will pick up some very useful topics that may apply to your blog.
612.25 -> On top of that, say you want to know your
614.32 -> competitor's articles that contain a seed topic, for example, "Gas Grill".
619.05 -> So on the search bar,
620.32 -> hit Space and add the keyword or seed topic and this will pull articles
624.81 -> from your competitor's site where Google thinks are related to the seed topic.
629.17 -> Plus, if you want Google to find
630.96 -> articles from your competitor's site that contains a particular keyword,
634.49 -> all you need to do is to add quotes around the keyword and Google will find articles
639.06 -> from your competitor's site that contains the exact match keyword.
643.48 -> Using this method, you will definitely find lots of keywords for your blog.
647.04 -> If you have exhausted one of your
648.55 -> competitors keywords, use this method on another competitor.
652.29 -> That's all the Google tools.
653.76 -> And since we're on the topic of finding
655.45 -> competitors keywords, here's another method.
659.08 -> Now, the alternative to the "Site:"
660.97 -> method is to find keywords in your competitor's sitemap.
665.33 -> Most of the sites will have a publicly available XML sitemap.
669.33 -> For example, this site. This is the URL.
672.41 -> Let's add "/sitemap.xml".
676.17 -> Some sites will have "/sitemap_index.xml" so
678.89 -> if you don't find one under "/sitemap.xml", you can try "/sitemap_index.xml".
684.69 -> But do note that some sites do not have a publicly available sitemap.
688.41 -> Now, as you hit Enter, if the sitemap is public,
691.49 -> you will see something like this go through the sitemaps and based on the text
696.29 -> in the URL you can find keyword ideas from there.
701.4 -> By the way, if you want to learn more
703.01 -> about Sitemaps and how it can benefit your site, do check out this video.
706.69 -> The link is in the description.
709.96 -> Answers.com works a little like Quora where you can ask a question and other
714.57 -> users on the site can answer your question.
716.97 -> The site is very good for discovering informational keywords.
720.73 -> Just enter a seed keyword like "how do I
724.13 -> safely handle and store raw meat before and after grilling?"
729.57 -> And it will show you the best answer.
732.01 -> And if you scroll down further, you will find related answers.
735.97 -> Click on them and as you scroll down
738.08 -> and you will have some relevant keyword ideas.
742.37 -> Just a note answers.com doesn't work well on some niches.
745.81 -> You've got to try it out yourself.
749.16 -> Now, Answer the Public is another useful
751.49 -> tool to discover keywords related to your niche.
754.12 -> But take note that you are limited
755.73 -> to three free searches per day on the site.
759.25 -> Enter a seed keyword, select the country and hit Search
764.73 -> and it will suggest questions related to your seed keyword.
769.13 -> It will provide you with "proposition keywords", "comparison keywords",
776.97 -> "in alphabetical order" and "related keywords".
783.57 -> It's just that simple.
788.2 -> Now, Ahrefs is a paid tool,
790.37 -> but they do provide several free tools to the public with no strings attached.
794.69 -> For example, the keyword generator.
797.33 -> On its keyword generator, enter a seed keyword like "BBQ Tips" or any
802.45 -> keywords related to your business or niche, and it will suggest a bunch
806.97 -> of related keywords with its search volume and keyword difficulty.
810.89 -> For the keyword difficulty, the higher the number, the harder it is to rank.
815.33 -> You can use this as a keyword validation tool, which we'll talk about later.
820.17 -> This is definitely a very handy tool for keyword research.
823.41 -> Personally, out of all the existing
825.2 -> keyword research methods, I would say that the Google tools
827.85 -> and the Ahrefs keyword generator are the most useful.
830.69 -> What do you think?
831.64 -> Do you have any other existing keyword research methods to share?
834.76 -> Do leave them in the comments.
836.17 -> Now, let's finally talk about how to use ChatGPT for keyword research.
841.81 -> Before everything else,
843.4 -> you might have questions about whether you should use
846.01 -> ChatGPT to write an article for you to be published and rank on search engines.
850.81 -> And the answer is no.
853.13 -> It goes against Google's Guidelines.
855.37 -> ChatGPT should be used as a guide and not an end solution.
859.85 -> With that said, ChatGPT is an amazing keyword research tool.
864.05 -> It has learned and absorbed a lot
865.77 -> of information on the web and it is a very good assistant.
869.45 -> Just to put it into context, if you are an expert in a particular
873.08 -> industry or niche, ChatGPT is just one level below you,
877.52 -> which makes it a highly qualified assistant to be helping you with tasks.
880.93 -> But they shouldn't be doing all the work for you.
884.17 -> The best part is you can treat ChatGPT like a human associate.
889.33 -> Let's check it out.
890.61 -> Now, there are no fixed commands to tell ChatGPT to do certain things.
894.76 -> You should tell it to do certain tasks,
896.52 -> like you would dedicate tasks to your assistant.
898.89 -> Let's take the BBQ retail shop as an example again.
902.05 -> First, I would treat ChatGPT like a new employee of my business.
906.45 -> So I would say, "assuming
909.37 -> you are a business owner of a BBQ appliance store trying to start a block
918.61 -> to sell your products, please provide me with a list
925.37 -> of underserved block topics in the BBQ niche."
931.41 -> As you hit enter, it will start to write out a list like you have instructed.
936.01 -> Now, this is interesting because every new chat, it comes up with different ideas.
941.97 -> But don't you think these can be the top categories of your blog?
945.69 -> They definitely can.
947.01 -> Right now, I haven't gone into researching keyword ideas yet.
952.08 -> In this approach, I'm going the top-down method.
954.93 -> I'm researching the top categories and then I'll go deep.
958.13 -> It is as though you are building out an entire site structure.
961.21 -> I will show you a bottom-up method later on.
964.04 -> And by the way, if you want to learn more
965.93 -> about building a good site structure for SEO and higher rankings.
969.4 -> You can check out this video right here.
971.23 -> The link is in the description.
973.37 -> Back to this.
974.41 -> Let's say that you don't want ChatGPT to stop at eight topics and you want more.
979.08 -> So I would say, "please provide me with a
983.69 -> full list instead of stopping at eight."
989.73 -> You see, it is providing you with even more top level topics that are
993.73 -> potentially the top level categories of your blog.
997.21 -> Don't you think this is amazing?
999.37 -> To me, it is.
1000.97 -> And if you want even more,
1002.61 -> just ask ChatGPT like you will ask the human assistant, "are there more topics?
1008.65 -> Please provide me with everything."
1013.76 -> And it goes on with even more ideas.
1018.08 -> And of course, you can probe even more.
1020.45 -> You can just type "Are there more?"
1022.81 -> But for the sake of this video, let's move on.
1025.8 -> Now, based on all these top level
1027.77 -> topics, let's say that this topic is something that is related to my business
1031.84 -> and I want to know what are the underserved keywords related to it?
1035.36 -> I would ask ChatGPT what are the questions
1040.04 -> people asked about the topic and it will go on to generate the questions for you.
1046.17 -> These questions can be keyword ideas for your blog.
1049.77 -> Kind of cool, right?
1051.32 -> If you want more, just ask "Are there more?"
1055.41 -> And you can go on and on and it's
1057.69 -> practically giving you all the questions within the top level topic,
1061.45 -> which makes it easy for you to build topical relevance for your site.
1065.01 -> I don't know about you,
1066.32 -> but I think this is really a game changer when it comes to keyword research.
1070.8 -> Now, these are the informational keywords.
1073.41 -> You can go on to ask about other types of keywords.
1076.44 -> For example, I want to know if there are commercial keywords in this top level
1080.17 -> topic I would ask please provide me with questions that have buying intent
1089.45 -> and related to the topic and it will list them down for you.
1095.64 -> As you can see, some of these keywords are
1097.73 -> keywords that you've probably never think of and it is awesome.
1101.49 -> Now, in case you want local keywords, you can ask, "assuming the BBQ retail shop
1109.04 -> is located in San Francisco, can you provide a list of questions
1116.49 -> with buying intent that locals will ask on Google?" And Voila!
1124.21 -> It would start listing those questions for you.
1127.36 -> Stay with me because we are going to use
1129.53 -> another method for keyword research with ChatGPT.
1133.73 -> Now, what if you want to do keyword research from the bottom-up perspective?
1138.69 -> Let's start afresh.
1140.12 -> Let's give a comment like "provide a list of keywords in the BBQ niche",
1148.04 -> and it will start to generate a bunch of keyword ideas.
1151.77 -> Now, these are all one word keywords which are highly competitive.
1155.53 -> So if you think this list is not helping, you can adjust your command.
1159.25 -> Let's say, "can you provide long tail keywords instead?"
1166.08 -> And it will go on to get you those keywords.
1169.25 -> How cool is that?
1170.73 -> Of course, when it's done you can definitely ask for more.
1174.25 -> But for now, let's say that I want to group this list of keywords.
1177.8 -> Into top level categories so that we
1179.83 -> can build a good site structure.
1181.6 -> I would give a command,
1182.73 -> say "From the keywords above, please group them based on their semantic
1192.28 -> relevance", and it will start grouping them like a pro.
1197.77 -> And with this you can build a really good site structure for your website or blog.
1203.65 -> As you can see, these are top level categories that your blog can adopt.
1210.84 -> So there are no set commands or rules.
1213.2 -> Just ask the right questions, the right probes, and make sure
1216.08 -> that the questions you ask are understandable by a human, and it will
1219.2 -> provide you with the most phenomenal information you want.
1222.08 -> And honestly, don't you think this is mind-blowing?
1225.04 -> You no longer need to spend a lot of time researching.
1227.76 -> If you aren't getting value from this,
1229.49 -> can you do us a favor and smash that thumbs up button.
1232.32 -> We really appreciate that.
1233.8 -> And now that we've found a bunch
1235.11 -> of keywords, let's verify them to see what we should focus on first.
1241.32 -> Now, the old SEO advice is to avoid writing
1244.04 -> articles on topics that are highly competitive.
1246.53 -> And that still stands true.
1247.96 -> But it doesn't mean that you should avoid them completely.
1250.53 -> Just put yourself in the position of Google.
1252.93 -> What is their mission statement?
1254.6 -> It is "to organize the world's information
1257.04 -> and make it universally accessible and useful."
1259.97 -> And to make sure that the search results are useful.
1262.56 -> They want to make sure that the information they rank highly is credible.
1266.69 -> And to do that, they have to analyze many data points.
1270.04 -> And one of the data points is if a website
1272.49 -> has covered most or all of the important keywords in the industry or niche.
1276.96 -> And did they do it well?
1278.08 -> Let me give you an analogy.
1279.65 -> Let's say that you are Google, and I'm a guy who is covering a lot of SEO
1283.73 -> information, and I made them publicly available.
1286.65 -> Then comes another guy who claims that he's an SEO expert.
1290.36 -> He's not known anywhere, he doesn't publish much content.
1293.73 -> Who would you trust as Google?
1295.49 -> I know you want to trust the other guy, but you are Google.
1299.01 -> You can only judge what you see.
1300.97 -> So most likely you will trust me, right?
1304.08 -> But does it mean that I'm more of an expert than that guy?
1307.49 -> You never really know, right?
1309.21 -> Maybe that guy is really an expert.
1311.29 -> So applying that even if a topic is highly competitive, you should still cover it as
1316.65 -> long as it is an important topic to your blog or business.
1319.68 -> I hope this makes sense to you.
1321.25 -> With that in mind, all the keywords you have found that you
1324.19 -> think are important to your business or blog are good keywords.
1327.89 -> But you have to verify if there are people searching for it.
1330.96 -> And depending on the competitiveness
1332.65 -> of the keyword, you want to prioritize them accordingly.
1335.92 -> One of the tools I recommend to know if
1337.75 -> there is a search volume for a keyword is Google Trends.
1342.05 -> So we are on Google Trends.
1344.04 -> Let's plug in one of the keywords we have found.
1346.36 -> Say "best BBQ safety tips".
1350.01 -> When you search for it, nothing is found.
1352.6 -> Let's change this to worldwide.
1354.65 -> If your target audience is in a particular country, feel free to change this.
1359.65 -> Then let's adjust the data range to the max.
1363.21 -> Still nothing? That's fine.
1364.97 -> When you put in exact keywords, sometimes
1367.45 -> you will not see any results.
1369.25 -> But that doesn't mean that it has no search volume.
1372.45 -> Let's remove "best" and leave just "BBQ safety tips".
1376.53 -> Even when we remove "Best", the search intent stays the same.
1380.57 -> Let's search for it.
1382.01 -> So here we have some data.
1384.36 -> Whenever you see a graph with no data, you see this has data,
1389.49 -> if there are no data,
1391.01 -> and it doesn't matter if the graph is trending upwards or downwards,
1394.45 -> it means that there is a search volume, maybe 200 searches per month or more.
1400.29 -> Graph with data like in this example,
1403.29 -> signals that the search volume is 500 or more.
1407.97 -> No graph, but with data signifies about 100 searches per month.
1413.68 -> I will show you some proof in a while.
1415.6 -> Essentially, this is what we are saying.
1418.97 -> This is the closest gauge.
1421.65 -> So if the exact keywords you found do not
1423.95 -> have any data, try to adjust it to a generic keyword,
1427.29 -> and you will have a gauge of the search volume.
1429.89 -> This requires some skill,
1431.41 -> but information is more accurate than any keyword research tool you use.
1435.21 -> But if you want to use an easier method, it is to use the Ahrefs' keyword generator.
1440 -> Now, there are some limitations to the data from Ahrefs keyword generator
1443.49 -> because you can't filter worldwide data, you can only assess country specific data.
1448.53 -> Let me give you a real example.
1450.53 -> So we are on the Ahrefs'
1452.11 -> keyword generator, and we're going to research this keyword "Best
1456.12 -> bamboo toothbrush".
1457.57 -> Let's select the United States data,
1459.89 -> perform the search, and you will see the search volume at 350 searches per month.
1465.69 -> If we visit Google Trends using only
1468.17 -> the United States data, you can see that it is signifying about
1471.6 -> 200 plus searches per month, which is pretty close.
1475.16 -> But if you filter the Google Trends
1476.89 -> results by worldwide, you can see that it signifies 500 searches or more per month.
1482.29 -> And if you visit the Google search console, we can see that for this keyword,
1486.6 -> under the Impressions, it is getting about 600 plus searches per month.
1491.01 -> This is the global data.
1492.93 -> Let's adjust it to the United States data, and you will see that there are about 171
1500.12 -> searches per month for the keyword in the United States.
1504.05 -> So it suggests to us that the results
1506.51 -> from Ahrefs is pretty decent, but it is limited to the country specific data.
1511.57 -> And if your website is targeting worldwide traffic, if you rely only on the US.
1515.65 -> Data as a gauge for the worldwide data, you are missing out on a lot.
1520.49 -> And that's why I would prefer to use Google Trends to verify the search volume,
1524.48 -> especially when it comes to targeting worldwide traffic.
1527.04 -> Alright,
1527.56 -> once you have identified that a particular keyword has search volume,
1530.77 -> let's determine the competition level to prioritize what keywords to focus on first.
1535.04 -> To do that, I will install Chrome
1537.36 -> extensions like the Moz bar, Ubersuggest, or any extensions that will tell you
1541.39 -> the domain and page authority of each search result.
1544.6 -> For this case, I will use the Ubersuggest Chrome extension.
1547.89 -> Let's do a search of the key phrase
1549.89 -> "BBQ Safety Tips", and we can see that the top results are
1553.6 -> with Domain Authority of 83, 68, 71, 93, which are relatively high.
1562 -> If you see sites that have a domain
1563.6 -> authority of more than 50 across the first ten results, it is highly competitive.
1568.81 -> And if you see super high authority sites or government sites ranking
1573.05 -> for that keyword, that is not a keyword you want to target at all.
1577.53 -> Let's do another, say "Sustainable swimwear".
1580.68 -> From this, we can see that the domain
1582.32 -> authority of the top ten results are 56, 29, 17, 38.
1588.77 -> This is 89, 43.
1590.97 -> So, as you can see,
1592.12 -> there are a lot of sites with domin authority of less than 50 ranking for this keyword.
1597.77 -> So this keyword is competitive, but at an acceptable level.
1601.73 -> So we will target this keyword first.
1605.08 -> The key is you need traffic coming to your
1607.84 -> site for it to get noticed and to grow in authority, right?
1611.25 -> If you are targeting all the highly competitive keywords at the start and you
1615.23 -> don't rank at all, nobody would come to your site and your site would never grow.
1619.32 -> Does this make sense to you?
1620.57 -> So, to recap, the first step to finding good keywords for your site is to use one
1625.36 -> of the keyword discovery tools I've mentioned.
1627.57 -> I think ChatGPT is a game changer as it will save you a lot of time.
1631.6 -> Then the next step is to verify if the keywords have search volume.
1635.24 -> I would prefer to use Google Trends to do
1637.08 -> the research as the information I get is more complete on a global scale.
1641.05 -> The final step is to determine the competitiveness of the keywords so
1644.79 -> that you can prioritize the low competition keywords first to gain some
1648.36 -> search visibility, traffic and eventually build authority.
1652.05 -> When your site is more established,
1654.12 -> you want to target the more competitive keywords.
1656.52 -> I hope this makes sense to you.
1657.97 -> So with all that we have shared,
1660.12 -> we hope that you can formulate your own keyword research strategies to find highly
1663.93 -> relevant keywords that will bring high quality
1666.32 -> traffic to your site.
1667.8 -> If you are getting value from this,
1669.24 -> we hope that you can smash that thumbs up button
1671.16 -> if you haven't done so, and if you haven't subscribed to our
1673.57 -> channel yet, do consider doing so to keep yourself up-to-date
1676.73 -> on the right SEO knowledge.
1678.29 -> This is Jack from Rank Math.
1679.93 -> Stay awesome! And I'll see you in the next video.
