It’s Black History Month! And while most people take this opportunity to learn about and reflect upon the accomplishments and struggles of African-Americans, plenty more choose to criticize the annual celebration. What many fail to realize is that black history is largely overlooked within the broad scope of American history, and the purpose of Black History Month is to spread awareness of this vibrant cultural past as well as black americans’ important contribution to the development of the USA as we know it. After all, without black history, America would be a very different place!

.503 -> - Ugh, I hate having a birthday during Black History Month.
.054 -> Why do I only get a day when they get an entire month?
.968 -> - You're so smart babe.
.35 -> - You know what we really need?
.255 -> We need a White History Month.
.393 -> - Did someone say that there should be a
.226 -> White History Month?
.236 -> - Yeah, how'd you know?
.188 -> - Let me guess, you're not racist or anything
.651 -> but you just think it would be better if we didn't
.265 -> have a Black History Month in America at all.
.448 -> - Yeah pretty much.
.492 -> - Let's get this over with.
.268 -> - And then Chadwick wins cribbage.
.273 -> - It's Mandy and I.
.283 -> Why are dressed so lame?
.792 -> And what are those stupid ass shoes?
.708 -> Why is everything so different?
.041 -> - Well you see Chad, without black inventors,
.746 -> our world would have missed out on huge
.338 -> advancements in cell phone technology,
.126 -> gaming consoles, and personal computers.
.628 -> Not to mention important shoe making techniques,
.422 -> light bulbs that last more than a few days,
.175 -> and delicious, delicious potato chips.
.102 -> A world without black history is completely different.
.144 -> - Yeah but all that stuff would have gotten invented
.106 -> anyway.
.896 -> - If all inventions are inevitable, then why celebrate
.858 -> any inventors Chad?
.029 -> - Wait where's Grandpa?
.315 -> Grandpa's dead?
.777 -> - Yes.
.567 -> Not only did a black engineer help invent the pace maker,
.237 -> but the first successful open heart surgery was
.373 -> done by a black surgeon so.
.788 -> But black history's not just about technology.
.12 -> So what do you feel like listening to,
.746 -> classical, Irish step dancing, polka music,
.288 -> an entire crooner station, more classical.
.634 -> - Okay I see what you're doing here,
.795 -> just put on Elvis and I'll be good.
.385 -> - Elvis who?
.337 -> - Fine I walked right into that.
.672 -> Kenny Chesney or something.
.845 -> - Oh sorry dude, country music has its roots

.984 -> - No!
.595 -> This place is lame.
.813 -> Where are we?

.18 -> - Yeah right, this is more like some boring ass town
.026 -> in some shitty little country or some shit.
.244 -> - Pretty much.
.068 -> Not only was most of early New York City built
.773 -> by African slaves, but without black slaves,
.911 -> the south never developed its labor intensive
.024 -> cotton and tobacco plantations.
.58 -> - What?
.241 -> - Which means that the north never developed its

.115 -> that very same lucrative cotton industry.
.509 -> - What?
