Acura TLX 2022 Review

Acura TLX 2022 Review

Fresh off a 2021 redesign, the Acura TLX carries over unchanged. It’s not quite a world-beater, but the TLX is a good features-per-dollar value against its competition—compact luxury sport sedans and entry-level midsize options, too.

.06 -> what it may not be a world beta the TLX
.76 -> offers good value for money compared to
.44 -> its competitors in the entry-level
.94 -> midsize and compact luxury sedan
.799 -> categories as a part of acura's long
.139 -> line of sporty sedans the TLX comes in a
.78 -> Type S model that promises impressive
.519 -> performance
.66 -> the TLX aims to bridge the gap between
.64 -> the Compact and mid-size sedan
.38 -> categories with its slightly longer and
-> wider Dimensions which are comparable to
.039 -> mid-size sedans like the BMW 5 series
.38 -> and Mercedes-Benz E-class however in
.26 -> terms of price and performance the TLX
.359 -> aligns more closely with compact sedans
.279 -> such as the BMW 3 Series and
.2 -> Mercedes-Benz C-Class
.18 -> from an aesthetic perspective the TLX is
.88 -> quite appealing its athletic stance is
.28 -> wide and aggressive and the sheet metal
.02 -> design takes inspiration from accurate
.12 -> sharp Type S concept car the interior
.7 -> design is clean and focused on the
.32 -> driver including a chunky steering wheel
.3 -> that is both inviting and practical
-> Additionally the TLX boasts a spacious
.039 -> trunk while the tlx's exercise may be
.1 -> appealing it does not necessarily
.78 -> translate into a more spacious rear seat
.84 -> Additionally the extra weight of the TLX
.7 -> compromises its agility resulting in a
.1 -> car that may not feel as Nimble as its
.78 -> appearance suggests while the suspension
-> is balanced and the turn-in is quick the
.86 -> tlx's transmission could benefit from
.84 -> more snap
.92 -> the TLX Type S is the performance Focus
.5 -> version of the TLX and marks the return
.42 -> of acura's performance branding this
.88 -> model is plenty quick and happy to root
.68 -> power to the rear but the brakes can be
.479 -> overly sensitive and challenging to use
.22 -> in urban environments during testing as
.68 -> part of performance car of the year the
.6 -> type S impressed with its behavior on
.34 -> back roads at Street speeds but its
.259 -> limit handling left something to be
.64 -> desired
.659 -> most TLX trims come equipped with a
.759 -> capable 2.0 liter turbocharged
.86 -> 4-cylinder engine that generates 272
.56 -> horsepower and 280 pounds to foot of
.96 -> torque the TLX Type S is a Step Up
.899 -> featuring a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6
.6 -> that delivers a total output of 355
.299 -> horsepower and 354 pounds per foot of
.88 -> torque during testing the type S reached
.82 -> 60 miles per hour in just 5.1 seconds
.119 -> this model is only available with
.5 -> all-wheel drive with fuel economy
.36 -> dropping to 25 miles per gallon highway
.18 -> the TLX has its shortcomings but its
.7 -> safety features are not among them the
.739 -> ease gave the TLX a perfect report card
.78 -> and awarded it the 2021 top safety pick
.18 -> plus the nhtsa was similarly impressed
.12 -> giving the TLX a 5 Star overall rating
.239 -> furthermore the TLX comes with an
.64 -> impressive array of active safety Tech
.26 -> including automatic emergency braking
.239 -> Lane keeping assist adaptive cruise
.58 -> control and a driver attention monitor
.8 -> this kit is more comprehensive than
.9 -> standard safety Suites from Audi DMW and
.84 -> Mercedes-Benz the only missing feature
.36 -> is blind spot monitoring which is
.16 -> standard on all trims except for the
.72 -> base model
