0.06 -> Lotus, creator of some of the finest lightweight
sports cars, has unveiled something completely
4.92 -> different: an all-electric SUV. It's called
the Eletre, and it has the potential to make
10.02 -> the biggest market impact of any vehicle the
British brand has created. The Lotus Eletre
14.88 -> is set to go on sale in Europe and China
in 2023, and in the United States by 2025.
21 -> Initial builds of the Eletre will have a
dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that's
24.84 -> good for at least 600 hp. That should enable very
quick acceleration—Lotus estimates 0-60 mph times
32.34 -> of under 3.0 seconds. Top speed is claimed at
161 mph, quite high for an electric vehicle.
39.84 -> The Eletre will have a 100-kWh battery pack
supplying power to the SUV's dual motors. Lotus
46.32 -> claims that'll be good for about 373 miles
of range on the European WLTP test cycle,
51.84 -> which roughly equates to 332 miles in EPA
testing. Thanks to the Eletre's 800-volt
57.84 -> electrical architecture, the battery
can be recharged by nearly 250 miles
62.1 -> in about 20 minutes when it's
plugged into a 350-kW charger.
66.6 -> Lotus shocked the world when it
revealed the Evija, a 1,972-hp
71.76 -> all-electric supercar. That was the starting
point for the company's electric ambitions:
76.26 -> It plans to make nothing but electric
vehicles by 2030. The Eletre is a more
80.94 -> mass-market example of Lotus' plans, and it's
the first model built on the Lotus Electric
85.2 -> Premium Architecture which can be adapted to
fit different powertrains and body styles.
90 -> The Eletre's cabin is infused with technology.
Instead of a conventional gauge display,
94.86 -> a slim 1.2-inch-wide display panel provides
the driver with the most important information,
99.72 -> and is supplemented by an augmented reality
head-up display. The primary infotainment
104.7 -> touchscreen measures 15.1 inches, and folds flat
when not in use. Speaker systems come from British
111 -> audio equipment manufacturer KEF, with a standard
15- and available 23-speaker setup on offer.
