11.496 -> This is it, the Passat with 7% additional tax liability.
15.272 -> You don't have to know everything. Shall we go get lunch?
21.849 -> Else we don't know what to do with the rest of our time.
25.216 -> Maybe I could tell more about the VW Passat GTE. Indeed, 45 grams CO2 emissions,
32.308 -> because it's a plug-in hybrid. They say it's VW's second.
36.546 -> The XL1 was a plug-in hybrid as well, so maybe it's the third.
46.278 -> It's the same recipe as the Golf GTE. A 1.4 TSI with 148 hp and 184 lb ft.
53.41 -> It always has a 6-speed DSG, and an electric motor,
59.093 -> which sits between the combustion engine and the DSG, so it shifts along.
65.603 -> This means you only get FWD. This has its disadvantages.
71.511 -> Electric motors produce a lot of torque.
81.006 -> I'm happy we don't have your typical Dutch summer, the same weather we'll have in autumn and winter.
87.229 -> The first Dutch customers will start driving a Passat GTE by then.
91.293 -> On the same slippery road, the Passat GTE has difficulty to get the power down.
99.664 -> ESP kicks in, etc.
102.728 -> About the handling of the Golf GTE I said it's no GTI. It's nice, but not very sporty.
112.104 -> The Passat GTE isn't sporty at all. I think that's the best summary.
117.107 -> It's very comfortable, rather quick, but the handling isn't up to scratch.
126.767 -> You probably won't care when you consider buying this car, but the letters may give you the wrong idea.
134.502 -> The electric motor puts out a healthy 113 hp, which is nice.
139.687 -> I hit the highway fully electric and I can keep up with traffic.
145.655 -> The total system power (you can't just add 148 and 113) is 212 hp.
153.689 -> The performance is decent. 0-62 mph takes 8 seconds.
167.33 -> The top speed is over 137 mph, but you'll need a long stretch of Autobahn.
173.839 -> We didn't have this long stretch, so we couldn't reach the top speed.
183.978 -> The fuel mileage according to the test cycle is 118 mpg, which explains the 35 grams CO2 emissions.
199.882 -> BP Ultimate Unleaded 98: better performance, cleans the engine, reduces resistance and wear.
204.446 -> Of course you'll be driving electric most of the time, so you won't have much to do with this.
208.911 -> What we know of the Golf GTE, which probably goes for the Passat GTE as well:
214.304 -> if you use the combustion engine more often, it's not the most economical hybrid on the market.
221.548 -> Think Outlander numbers. These aren't my words; someone at Travelcar said this and I believe him.
228.415 -> If you're driving long distances interspersed with urban traffic,
235.21 -> a Volvo V60 diesel plug-in hybrid may be better, because it's more economical.
242.946 -> On the other hand, the Passat has some huge advantages. One is the large trunk.
250.763 -> You can put a lot of stuff in there. I don't know if it's smaller than in a regular Passat's, but it looks big.
258.692 -> You can stash everything in there. There's a lot of space in the back as well. That's the Passat's charm.
265.6 -> It has a lot of room, it's comfortable, you get a modern assistant system,
269.807 -> VW is up-to-date with active cruise control, lane assist (which is annoying), traffic sign recognition...
277.868 -> It no longer works here. I get it. There are a lot of traffic signs along the Dutch roads,
283.334 -> so even a computer system wants to give up. It is complete, with a very nice finish.
293.157 -> You can put your head down on every surface and fall asleep. You'll have the best night's rest ever.
304.286 -> You probably want to run to the dealer right now.
307.656 -> I have bad news for you, because it's sold out for this year.
313.45 -> Pon, the importer, hopes to get more cars to the Netherlands, but I think that'll be difficult.
318.708 -> It won't be the thousands needed. The Passat GTE was sold out during pre-order.
326.751 -> The price is a little under 45,000 euros for the sedan. The wagon is a little over 46,000 euros.
348.819 -> You can also buy a TDI with 21% additional tax liability.
354.814 -> If you do the math, you can spend 33,000 euros on a TDI. They're a little more expensive than that.
363.975 -> A Passat GTE will be relatively favorable next year, with a number of disadvantages.
371.75 -> You'll need a charging station. I want you to charge at home and at work. That's another 3,000 euros.
378.499 -> That's a bit of an advantage. Plus, some fleet managers aren't happy with plug-in hybrids
385.51 -> because the fuel mileage often isn't as good in practice.
