0 -> one, two, three, four!
1.82 -> Rev up your engines!
8.6 -> It's time for the Scotty Kilmer Channel
10.92 -> I admit it, I've been driving Mustangs since the 60s,
and I always believed you got to have a
15.63 -> v8 engine, if you want to have fun
driving, but times have changed and so I
23.31 -> have I, sure this new Mustang only has a 2.3
liter four-cylinder engine, but what a
30.39 -> four-cylinder engine, it puts out 310
horsepower and 320 foot-pounds of torque,
38.899 -> now you might very well ask, how does
such a small engine put out 310
42.84 -> horsepower, well here's how, first it uses
gasoline direct injection with gasoline
48.719 -> direct injection it's more like a diesel
there's a regular fuel pump that pumps
51.96 -> fuel from the gas tank to up here, then
this mechanical pump boosts it up to
56.579 -> 3000 psi, then the high-pressure fuel is
pump the whole way to the fuel injectors
62.64 -> on the rail, with your direct injectors,
they inject fuel right into the
66.36 -> cylinders, and that's a more efficient
way of distributing the fuel, so you get
70.53 -> more power and better gas mileage at the
same time, heck, I got 32 miles a gallon when I
75.84 -> drove it going 55 miles an hour, not that
I don't fifty-five miles an hour for all
80.25 -> that long, because realize, the faster you
drive, the worse you gas mileage your going to get,
85.17 -> I'm a pretty fast driver, so my wife
would get 32 miles a gallon, but I won't,
89.97 -> now the other way it makes so much power
is with this twin-scroll turbocharger,
94.259 -> it's a modern design turbocharger ,that
works almost like two turbochargers, but
98.97 -> it doesn't have turbo lag like two
turbochargers often will have, and if you
103.56 -> look at the front of the engine, you'll
see there's a fan belt,
105.659 -> it runs the water pump, it runs the
alternator and it runs the air
109.619 -> conditioner, but there's no power
steering pump, that's because it has
113.64 -> electric power steering, that further
gets you better gas mileage and more
117.45 -> power, and you can use that power in many
ways, as you can see now it, idles quite
122.25 -> smooth you can set it up for just normal
driving, or you can flip one switch turn
127.469 -> the traction control off and drive a
little bit harder,
130 -> and you can flip another switch, and you
make steering feel normal, sport, or
137.05 -> comfort, since it has electric power
steering, the computer can adjust it lots
141.489 -> of ways, but my favorite is the last
button, the mode button, you hit that, you
146.31 -> can drive normal, you can drive sport, you
can drive track, or you can drive snow or wet,
154.33 -> of course you know what I'm going
to pick, I'm going to run it on track even
160.239 -> though you're supposed to only do that
on the track, that's why it's got little
162.489 -> helmet sitting on the bottom warning you,
that turns a lot of the speed controls
166.6 -> off, unless you get into a really extreme
situation, then it will put traction
170.56 -> control and stuff back on, because
realize, modern-day racing cars even have
175.03 -> traction control, it's on the far end of
traction control, but it's still there to
179.38 -> keep them from killing each other, but I
do have to say one thing surprised me
183.31 -> about this Mustang my wife actually
liked it, and that's because she didn't
187.72 -> liked the way they rode, she said they
were too bumpy, but since Ford redesigned
191.68 -> the rear suspension to join the 21st
century, and they now have a fully
195.31 -> independent suspension in the back, they
really do ride a lot better, she didn't
199.78 -> know anything about this at all, she just
knew that it road a lot better and she
202.959 -> liked driving it, so if you're thinking
about getting a new pony car, you might
207.579 -> think four-cylinder this time, and I
doubt if those 310 ponies will let you
212.95 -> dwon, remember if you've got any car
questions visit the Scotty kelmer
217.54 -> channel and I'll answer them as soon as
I'm done Road testing this turbocharged
