0 -> Hello guys welcome back to our YouTube channel. Three row SUVs are often the vehicles of choice
5.76 -> for today's active families, and the Volkswagen  Atlas is a top pick in this popular class.
10.98 -> Living in a box isn’t so bad when the box is  Volkswagen’s cavernous three row Atlas SUV.
16.44 -> Unlike many others in the platoon of three  row mid sizers, the Atlas has a big enough
20.88 -> rearmost seat to comfortably handle adults.  Also, this Volkswagen easily accommodates
26.1 -> luggage and grocery bags, with more cargo  capacity than rivals such as the Mazda CX9
31.08 -> and Hyundai Palisade. And its supple handling  makes daily commutes smooth and comfortable.
35.88 -> The Atlas gets power from either a 235-hp  turbocharged four cylinder or a 276-hp V6
43.92 -> that can tow up to 5000 pounds. Both powertrains  come with an eight speed automatic transmission
49.38 -> and can be ordered with either front or all wheel  drive. While we found the interior materials to
54.72 -> be a little more corporate than in competitors  such as the plusher Kia Telluride and Mazda CX9,
59.1 -> the Atlas’s vast interior space makes it more  practical thanks to greater cargo room when the
63.9 -> third row is folded. If seating and cargo  space aren’t as important to you as style,
68.34 -> the Atlas Cross Sport puts a sporty  spin on Volkswagen’s big German carton.
73.14 -> In this video we are reviewing  2023 model of Volkswagen Atlas.
77.52 -> But before we get into the video, make sure  to like this video, subscribe to our channel,
82.02 -> and hit the bell icon to get the latest updates. Trims.
86.46 -> The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas is available in  five trim levels: SE, SE with Technology,
92.28 -> SEL, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line.  The SE with Technology is the popular trim.
100.74 -> Styling. It’s big but not brash.
104.1 -> The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas is pleasantly  conservative in the looks department.
108.9 -> Its clean, traditional lines earn  a 5 out of 10 on the TCC scale.
113.64 -> The standard Atlas is around half a foot longer  than the Cross Sport, but you’d have to line the
118.14 -> two up together to really notice the difference.  Both share the same broad front end with a big
123 -> VW grille and plenty of brightwork. Chunky fender  flares along the side give way to a fairly plain
128.88 -> tail that echoes some of the front end’s chrome.  Only the roofline really differs between the two,
134.04 -> with the Cross Sport’s sharper rear  window angle giving it a sportier look.
138.18 -> Performance. With the base turbo 4, the Atlas sends 235-hp to
144.06 -> the front or all four wheels. These are heavy SUVs  even before you add a full cabin of passengers and
150 -> gear, so what was just acceptable acceleration  turns into dull responses when loaded up.
155.04 -> The better choice here is the 276-hp V6,  though even it’s not much of a speed demon.
161.34 -> It’s a bit smoother and definitely more confident  in highway passing. Either engine makes use of a
166.98 -> smooth 8 speed automatic transmission that sorts  through the gears with impressive precision.
171.42 -> Ride and Handling. Even with accurate steering that builds
175.2 -> heft in a gradual fashion, the Atlas struggles  to overcome its sheer size on a curvy road.
180.3 -> It handles well, for what it is. But  it never lets you forget what it is.
185.46 -> The VW Atlas is a big SUV, but it does an  admirable job of disguising that heft on the road.
191.46 -> The Atlas feels stable and surefooted through  turns, with minimal side to side body lean. The
197.16 -> steering is quick and reasonably weighted, and the  brakes haul the SUV down to a stop without drama.
202.5 -> It's fairly easy to maneuver on city  streets, though parking can be a squeeze.
206.82 -> The Atlas' suspension sops up rough  pavement with impressive composure,
210.24 -> yielding a smooth and comfortable ride, especially  on models with the 18 or 20 inch wheels.
216.06 -> The ride gets a bit busier for models with the  21 inch wheels, but even so, it's far from harsh.
222 -> Overall, the Atlas earns a perfectly average  5 out of 10. It fails to stand out in any way,
228.06 -> though it’s light on major concerns. Interior.
231.9 -> There's plenty of room in all directions up  front, and the second row is wide enough for
236.34 -> three adults across. Also the third row fits  adults 6 feet or shorter with surprisingly
241.5 -> little effect on comfort. The Atlas also gets  high marks for its clever sliding second row
246.54 -> seat, with good rear visibility to boot. It does take some time to become familiar
251.22 -> with the Atlas' available digital gauge  cluster, but once you're accustomed to it,
254.88 -> functionality is wide ranging. One downside to  the touchscreen infotainment system interface
260.46 -> is having to look at what you're pressing,  which takes attention away from driving.
264.54 -> Infotainment Technology. The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas features
269.22 -> an infotainment touchscreen with a capacitive  touch feature that allows swiping and pinch
273.24 -> zooming as with a smartphone. In addition, the  system's app integration means Apple CarPlay,
278.4 -> Android Auto, and MirrorLink display seamlessly.  Overall, this setup is a breeze to operate.
285 -> The entry level Atlas S trim gets a 6.5 inch  touchscreen. This trim also has two USB-C ports,
292.14 -> an SD card multimedia interface, and Bluetooth.  All other Atlas models have an 8 inch display,
298.2 -> wireless app connect with a multi-phone pairing  that can switch between compatible devices,
302.46 -> enhanced voice recognition, and two illuminated  USB-C ports. An additional charge only port in
309.18 -> the center stack and two charge-only ports in  the rear are standard on SE and higher trims.
314.04 -> Most Atlas models include a six speaker audio  system, while the SEL Premium R Line models
319.32 -> feature an upscale 12 speaker Fender system. In  addition, Volkswagen Car Net presents several
324.9 -> connectivity options and owner vehicle interaction  possibilities, including an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.
331.02 -> Comfort. The Atlas' front seats lack some adjustability,
334.56 -> and the bottom cushions feel a little flat and  long, which might be uncomfortable for short
338.88 -> drivers. Both back rows recline, and the second  row slides and has a slightly firmer middle seat.
345.12 -> The Atlas has a settled ride quality.  The suspension absorbs most bumps and
349.86 -> road undulations without getting overly floaty.  There's some road noise, and the large mirrors
355.08 -> generate noticeable wind noise at highway speeds,  but it's nothing the audio system can't conceal.
360.66 -> The Atlas' climate system is strong and  has plenty of heating and cooling capacity.
365.34 -> Storage. The Atlas dominates the midsize SUV competition
369.42 -> with 20.6 cubic feet of space behind the third  row and a maximum capacity of 96.8 cubic feet.
376.38 -> The flexibility of the manual  folding flat seats is great,
379.332 -> and our test SUV also had a hands free tailgate. The Atlas offers a good amount of storage space
381.66 -> for small items, but there are no obvious storage  cubbies for items such as sunglasses or sectioned
386.34 -> compartments in the center armrest bin. The second  row packs plenty of space, and there shouldn't be
391.56 -> any issues fitting a rear facing car seat there.  The second row is also designed to tilt and slide
397.08 -> with a seat installed. Towing Capacity.
400.5 -> Volkswagen puts a factory installed trailer  hitch on every Atlas with the 276 hp V6. The six
407.744 -> cylinder models have a maximum towing capacity  of 5000 pounds, as much as the Toyota 4Runner
413.16 -> and Subaru Ascent. The Atlas’s pulling strength  drops to 2000 pounds for four cylinder models.
419.4 -> Fuel Economy. The Atlas's fuel economy
422.34 -> ratings aren't groundbreaking for this class  of big box family haulers, but its real world
426.84 -> performance isn't far off from the segment's  fuel sippers. The four cylinder model is the
431.52 -> most efficient with the front wheel drive version  scoring ratings of 21 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
438.42 -> The thirstier V6 model is rated at 18 mpg city and  24 mpg highway with front wheel drive and 16 mpg
446.28 -> city and 22 mpg highway with all wheel drive. Safety.
451.14 -> The Volkswagen Atlas has excellent overall safety.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
457.02 -> hasn't yet rated the 2023 Atlas, but it gave  the identical 2022 Atlas its highest five
462.57 -> star safety rating. The Insurance Institute for  Highway Safety issued the 2022 Atlas its highest
468.48 -> rating of Good in all crashworthiness categories. The 2023 Atlas comes with active safety features
474.3 -> such as blind spot monitoring and forward  collision mitigation. Optional features
478.74 -> include lane keeping assist, front and rear  parking sensors, and a self parking system.
484.02 -> Pricing. Its estimated price starts around at
487.92 -> $35,000 and increases for upper trims. That's all for today. Thank you for taking
493.14 -> the time to watch this video. Please leave us  with your valuable feedback if you found this
498 -> video interesting. Stay tuned to our channel till  the next video, and until then, see you soon.
