Ford Mustang 2015 review

Ford Mustang 2015 review

We drove the Ford Mustang with a V8 and the new 2.3L Eco Boost engine. The 2.3L will probably be more popular in Europe and we find out if it is any good.

15.318 -> The Mustang is a Mustang. I think Ford was smart to do that.
19.77 -> Look at the design and grab some pictures of older Mustangs.
23.558 -> The DNA is there. This means they had to make some concessions.
30.561 -> The slanted nose isn't optimal for the streamline.
37.883 -> Although, with this much hp, it doesn't really matter.
42.306 -> However, on the Autobahn it's stable, but you'd expect more acceleration over 112 mph.
52.662 -> You'd say this V8 with a lot of power would keep going,
57.547 -> but its aerodynamics aren't optimal for driving fast on the highway.
64.248 -> It's very stable, though.
71.025 -> It took them 51 years. The first Mustang was introduced in 1964.
76.401 -> Finally, it's officially available in Europe. This may surprise some, because you do see Mustangs here.
83.337 -> Those are grey imports. Of course you could ship Mustangs to Europe.
91.501 -> Now, its suspension got tuned and other things were adjusted to be more to European tastes.
101.321 -> But, no need to get worried. It's still a muscle car.
111.865 -> It's a bit silly, with its silly features. It does burn tires once in a while.
125.419 -> Of course, we have a V8. 424 hp and 391 lb ft torque, more or less.
132.652 -> There's also a 4-cylinder EcoBoost, a turbo engine, which will also sit in the Focus RS.
139.61 -> It has 100 less of each, so 316 hp and 317 lb ft torque.
146.47 -> Let's tell the 0-62 mph sprint times as well: 4.8 seconds for the V8, 5.8 seconds for the 4-cylinder.
153.757 -> This is quick enough. However, driving the 4-cylinder...
163.037 -> I expected more of 316 hp. It should've been more feisty.
174.017 -> This car makes me feel like a child all over again.
178.143 -> I think that's a good quality.
186.209 -> The EcoBoost is rather heavy. The convertible weighs over 3,748 lb. You feel this.
194.845 -> It should've been more feisty. Not that it's bad, but with the V8 it is as it should be.
203.01 -> The drivetrain feels beefier, to say it like that. The clutch is firmer, the manual gearbox is manlier.
212.778 -> Not that it's heavier, but you feel that the drivetrain was built to drive fast on the dragstrip.
221.327 -> Now we're talking about the dragstrip: Line-Lock is a nice feature.
227.267 -> If you don't know what that is, allow me to explain. It's important to get your tires warm for a dragrace.
235.267 -> You want to do a burnout. You put your foot on the brake, cooking your rear brakes.
239.627 -> The Mustang and normal dragracers do this as well, but the front tires lock.
244.657 -> You can put the pedal to the metal, creating a lot of smoke, to get some warmth in your tires.
262.575 -> You can do this for 15 seconds. FYI, this was 3-4 seconds. It's killing your tires.
271.125 -> They're not my tires, but still. It looks like you cause a forest fire. Very cool.
280.099 -> The handling... The car has a lot of grip. That may be why the EcoBoost doesn't feel strong enough.
288.096 -> If you want to drift it, you'll have to provoke it.
292.266 -> You'd expect 316 hp, RWD, diff lock, and a nice setup would work, but you'll have to try hard.
304.044 -> It's rather easy with the V8.
312.213 -> Because of all the grip, it seems closer to the European competition.
318.292 -> What is competition for this car? The V8 is very expensive in the Netherlands.
323.65 -> It has about 50,000 euros of taxes. They're lower for the more CO2 friendly EcoBoost.
331.825 -> Less taxes for that one. Prices start at 47,000 euros.
335.011 -> What to compare it with? An M3 is a straight-6 turbo, more refined.
344.029 -> If you like that or not, that's the question. This feels manly.
350.497 -> I think it's very comfortable. There's plenty of space and the seats are good.
356.94 -> The V8 has Recaros, the 4-cylinder has normal seats.
361.019 -> The suspension comfort is very good as well. The conclusion: the 4-cylinder is a fun car,
368.272 -> but I think it needs more power. The V8 solves this, but it's extremely expensive.
374.575 -> It's great for dragraces, because it feels like a car you can hoon for years.
384.194 -> You can smoke a lot of tires, throw it around, and it won't break. It feels like that.
391.602 -> The color of the convertible is very boring. That's why we have a yellow V8.
398.08 -> Yellow is THE color for 2016.
404.558 -> Mark my words.
412.3 -> Subtitles - Maru's Text Support
420.916 -> There's been a forest fire here or something? - A little accident.
424.826 -> There's a lot of smoke here. - My foot slipped off the clutch.
428.511 -> My other foot was still on the brake.
