0.32 -> Hi. My name is Claudio Alvarado and I work in  an emergency department here at UC Davis Health.
5.28 -> Today i'm going to show you  how to do a home COVID-19 test.
10.64 -> The kit we'll be using is called iHealth  COVID-19 antigen rapid test, which is a fairly
15.52 -> common test to use at home. In the kit comes two  tests and we'll go over each part of it.
20.8 -> You'll have your collection swab,
22.23 -> your test card and your dropper and liquid that you use later.
25.734 -> Before you begin, it's always really important to look at  the instructions as some tests can be different.
29.997 -> Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly  with warm water and soap for 30 seconds.
35.12 -> The first step is we're going to use a  collection swab to go into each nostril,
38.88 -> rotating five times.
40.332 -> You have to go about  half an inch to three quarters of an inch.
43.389 -> A great thing to remember is about  the size of the tip of your pinky.
48.72 -> One, two, three, four, five.
52.975 -> Though it doesn't hurt, it  does feel really funny.
55.326 -> Now we'll go to the next nostril - one, two, three, four, five.
62.335 -> We'll go ahead and put it back into the wrapper for later use.
70.32 -> The next part we're going to  use is the liquid in the dropper.
73.36 -> Make sure to tap it three times on a hard surface.
76.4 -> One, two, three.
78.206 -> You'll go ahead and open up the orange part and set that aside on a clean surface.
86.64 -> At this point, you'll go ahead and grab your swab.
92.96 -> Place the swab into the liquid  and you're going to turn 15 times.
97.6 -> 1, 2... 13, 14, 15.
102.11 -> Next is a crucial part.
103.656 -> You're going to squeeze the bottom in order to squeeze the swap as you pull out,
106.904 -> making sure you get every last bit of the collection.
112 -> Now you can throw away your swab.
117.2 -> Go ahead and grab your cap, replace it
123.04 -> and you can set this aside for right now.
126.96 -> The test kit itself has a collection sample  portion, which requires three drop of the
132 -> liquid, as well as the test results. You'll  see a C and a T.
137.512 -> It's imperative that you get a line at the C,
140.91 -> which is the control, which lets you know that the test is working itself.
144.64 -> Yf you don't get a C with the  three drops within the 15 minutes,
148.64 -> your test sample is no longer valid  and you have to use another test.
155.76 -> Grab your dropper and this time,  you're going to take off the top cap.
160.96 -> You're going to instill three drops into the  collection chamber of your kit.
165.51 -> One, two, three.
172.88 -> Now comes the hardest part and that's waiting.
174.866 -> The best thing to do is to set a timer on your phone for 15 minutes.
178.657 -> After 15 minutes, you can read your results. You'll look for
183.12 -> one of two things.
184.225 -> You'll look for a line at the C, which is a control
187.526 -> and then if you're positive, you'll see a line at  the T,
190.56 -> which is your test results.
192.017 -> It doesn't matter how faint or how bright the result is,
195.347 -> but if you have that line at the T, then your test is positive for COVID-19.
199.506 -> If your test is positive, be sure  to isolate yourself from your friends and family
203.616 -> and maintain proper precautions -
205.405 -> washing your hands and wearing a mask.
207.66 -> If your symptoms worsen, meaning shortness of breath or you can't get enough air in,
211.934 -> be sure to go to your local emergency department.
