The Volkswagen Jetta saloon is a practical four-door, with a large boot and plentiful rear knee room. It can accommodate four adults and their luggage with ease, while offering a smooth and quiet ride.

It’s available with petrol and diesel engines, the latter suiting the Jetta particularly well. We sampled the 2.0-litre TDI with 148bhp and a DSG automatic gearbox, which gave the Jetta a surprising turn of speed.
