0.286 -> Even after so many SUVs coming to India,
2.764 -> There is this one sedan that people buy again and again,
6.541 -> Over any SUV.
8.255 -> And it is not like for once.
10.131 -> People sell the old gen of this car and buy the new generation.
13.048 -> And they continue this process with every new generation launched.
15 -> Yes, you guessed it right.
16.847 -> It is the Honda City.
18 -> And now with an upgrade, the car gets new features.
23.907 -> So is it still worth buying the new Honda City in 2023?
27.84 -> Watch the video till the end to know.
29.859 -> Let's go!
31.066 -> [Music]
60.511 -> Honda City has always been a premium sedan.
65.109 -> But this time around the approach has been changed.
67.701 -> So when launched in 2020,
69.701 -> Honda City was equipped with a lot of chrome.
72.36 -> But now they have gone minimalistic on chrome,
76.901 -> And have added black elements to make the car look sporty.
82.149 -> So upfront,
82.745 -> The grille now gets black elements,
85.241 -> The same can be seen on the lower bumper as well,
89.362 -> Only the top part of the grille gets the chrome finish on it.
94.08 -> The higher variants get LED headlamps.
97.284 -> So 6 lights are of low beam,
100.01 -> While 3 of them are for high beam.
103.007 -> Coming to the side profile,
105 -> You will notice the silhouette of the Honda City launched in 2014,
111.261 -> Has been maintained here and it is clearly evident.
115.895 -> Also, it has helped to give a good wheelbase to the car.
118.106 -> So they have gone with the, why fix when not broken strategy!
123 -> Just for your information,
124.045 -> It is the facelift version of the City which was launched in 2020.
129.789 -> There is a camera on the left ORVM,
134.578 -> And it activates when you switch on the left-side turn indicator.
139.272 -> Additionally, it gets a camera on top of the windshield,
143.527 -> Indicating it gets ADAS.
145.412 -> So in this car, you just get cameras for ADAS,
148.463 -> And not the radars.
151.361 -> The Wheel size happens to be 16 inches.
153.19 -> And as I said the approach is more toward being sporty,
158.247 -> They have changed the alloy wheel design to look sportier,
163.037 -> Rather than giving a premium look.
165.629 -> The rear of the car does not get any major upgrades.
170.323 -> There are some small changes,
172.419 -> Only the lower bumper gets some tweaks,
177.8 -> While the rest looks the same as before.
179.839 -> It has a very subtle rear lip spoiler integrated onto the boot.
183.941 -> Also, it gets LED tail lamps.
187.756 -> For those who want to know,
189.871 -> It gets a shark fin antenna.
192.597 -> The boot space of the Honda City varies between the Hybrid and petrol variants.
196.87 -> Boot space is less on the hybrid variant at 306 litres due to the battery pack underneath.
206.264 -> While the petrol variant has 506 litres of boot space.
210.84 -> Come on, let's step inside.
212.668 -> The interiors of the Honda City are plush looking,
216.273 -> Specifically since the 2020 model.
218.112 -> In fact, each gen of the City had plush interiors.
221.851 -> The same can be seen here.
224.214 -> Few changes have been made to make it look sportier,
227.007 -> Compared to what it was premium.
229.32 -> So they have replaced the wood finish with carbon fibre,
234.855 -> And other than that there are few additional features.
237.963 -> We will get into everything.
240.463 -> The touch and feel of the steering wheel is premium.
243.848 -> It comes with leather wrapped steering on the higher variants,
246.727 -> And it definitely feels premium and upmarket.
250.58 -> It has cruise controls and audio controls on the steering wheel,
254.262 -> While the higher variants get adaptive cruise control.
259.319 -> The instrument cluster is a part digital and part analog unit,
263.382 -> And the digital part provides loads of information.
266.662 -> It shows you all the ADAS warnings,
269.617 -> And you can customise it completely.
271.961 -> Changes can be seen in the touchscreen infotainment system,
275.47 -> As it finally gets wireless android auto and apple carplay.
279.934 -> It was one of the missing features,
283.672 -> And even the Honda cars ranging up to 30 Lakhs missed out on this feature.
293.187 -> Honda has claimed that they have improved the reverse camera,
296.2 -> Although it still misses out on dynamic guidelines.
301.39 -> However it gets multiple modes like top view, zoom, and wide,
309.427 -> Making the parking convenient.
312.669 -> Also, the car now gets a wireless charging pad.
316.32 -> On the hybrid variant, the wireless charging pad is a fixed unit,
320.804 -> But on the petrol variant, it has a makeshift option above the cup holders.
326.835 -> So if you want to use the cup holders you can easily remove the charging pad.
333.612 -> The reason it is removable is that the hybrid variant gets an electronic parking brake with auto hold function,
337.943 -> While the petrol variant gets the manual handbrake leaving no space for the fixed wireless charging pad.
342.999 -> The IRVM has an auto-dimming feature.
346.298 -> It now gets a white colour, very mild, and minimal ambient lighting.
354.084 -> There is a sunroof on the roof,
355.319 -> And these seats are very comfortable.
358.351 -> When you sit for the first time in the City,
360.351 -> You will be really welcome with this comfortable set of seats.
363.717 -> The front seats are extremely comfortable and almost feel like a sofa.
369 -> They are well-cushioned seats and you will enjoy sitting on these seats on those long road journeys.
375.764 -> In terms of safety,
377.745 -> It has features like 6-Airbags,
379.516 -> ABS + EBD,
381 -> And the list is pretty long.
383.143 -> Talking about the build quality,
385.678 -> The last gen Honda City launched in 2014,
390.391 -> Scored a 4 Star rating in the Global NCAP crash test.
393.881 -> In fact, it's twin sibling Jazz scored the same rating as well.
397.868 -> Now being a new-gen car with better build quality,
401.072 -> We expect it to score at least a 4-star rating if it is tested at the Global NCAP.
408.288 -> Now let's move to the back seats to show you what space is there for rear passengers.
412.16 -> In the second row, there is ample knee room and adequate headroom even for tall passengers like me.
421.763 -> People have always preferred to sit in the back seat of the Honda City,
428.406 -> And so the focus has been to make the rear seats comfortable.
432.267 -> It has a good amount of softness on the seats.
436.09 -> And just like the front seats,
437.803 -> The rear seats too are pretty comfortable.
440.6 -> However the thigh support could have been better,
444.434 -> Although it is decent enough.
447.561 -> There is a centre armrest,
449.866 -> And it has three fixed headrests which are more than sufficient.
457.827 -> So overall it is a spacious and comfortable car.
460.859 -> There are AC vents, 12V charging port,
465.64 -> Cup holders, and bottle holders, for the comfort of the rear passengers.
471.37 -> Overall,
472.205 -> Honda City should be your priority if you are looking for a chauffeur-driven car at this price point.
478.723 -> So enough of the talk,
480.153 -> Now let's go and drive the car.
481.9 -> So here we are to drive the car.
483.9 -> Turning on the ignition,
487.008 -> Shifting to drive,
489.397 -> And here we go.
491.416 -> Now let me clarify one thing,
493.416 -> The 1.5 litre petrol and the 1.5 litre hybrid,
498.626 -> Are different in terms of performance.
502.918 -> But their original power is maintained.
505.797 -> Let me explain it to you clearly.
509.154 -> Firstly there are no changes in the performance of the engine except the emissions.
514.23 -> But I will still explain you in detail.
516.096 -> So it will be helpful for those who are watching for the first time.
520.636 -> So,
521.766 -> Acceleration has always been the strongest point of Honda City.
529.141 -> Be it the Petrol or Hybrid with CVT/MT.
534.809 -> Hybrid feels a bit lethargic for better mileage,
539.216 -> But the regular petrol engine has been built for an excellent outright performance.
546.248 -> The car can do a drag race or even a quick 0-100 for you,
554.591 -> But once passed 100/120 kmph speed,
557.909 -> The ride begins to get a bit bumpy.
563.157 -> Other than that it's a very smooth car to drive.
565.864 -> Like it is very comfortable and convenient to drive in city limits.
570.673 -> Be it manual or CVT or even the hybrid,
574.812 -> You will not have a point to complain.
577.76 -> The steering wheel is extremely light,
580.008 -> The ride quality is just amazing.
582.094 -> You will not feel the jerks on most of the bad roads.
586.807 -> So the driving experience will be excellent on the City.
592.8 -> The handling is just decent enough as the car has thinner tires with the focus being the mileage.
602.289 -> So if you want excellent handling then I would recommend you to install wider and grippier tires.
614.32 -> Now that doesn’t mean these tires do not offer sufficient grip.
616.855 -> But if you are thinking from an enthusiastic aspect for handling,
621.625 -> Then you might have to change the tires.
624 -> Rest, it is the best 1.5 litre petrol engine in the market.
629.076 -> No other naturally aspirated petrol engine has such amazing performance.
635.49 -> Push the accelerator pedal,
637.127 -> And the car moves.
638.745 -> It responds quickly.
640.955 -> Even in the manual transmission, you will have no problems doing quick overtakes.
648.285 -> So this is where Honda City clearly shines.
651.68 -> The mileage of the manual or CVT City, inside the city,
655.686 -> Is around 12 kmpl.
657.686 -> And on highways, if you drive around 80-90 kmph speed,
660.336 -> Then you can expect a mileage of around 18-20 kmpl.
663.363 -> It will drop if you do high speeds.
665.76 -> On hybrid variants, you can expect the mileage to be around 24-26 kmpl.
671.543 -> So it may go high if you drive inside the city,
675.76 -> While it may drop on highways if you do frequent high speeds.
680.263 -> Else you can expect it to return around 22-23 kmpl quite easily.
687.135 -> In terms of visibility, you shouldn’t have much of a problem.
691.428 -> If you are coming from a small size car,
693.581 -> Then it may take time to get used to the length of the bonnet.
696.92 -> Being a sedan the bonnet is not visible.
699.379 -> You may take a couple of days or a week's time to get used to with the car.
705.869 -> But you can easily drive it on highways without any problem.
711.44 -> Only in the city traffics or for that tight turns you may take time to judge the car.
721.866 -> Rest, it's a very nice and comfortable car to be in.
725.28 -> It even has multiple modes of regen braking.
729.133 -> So if you want the car to slow down quickly,
732.155 -> Then you can set the regen mode at the highest level,
734.155 -> And that can be done directly with the paddle shifters.
737.76 -> The hybrid variant used to get the ADAS.
741 -> But now even the petrol variant of City gets ADAS.
744.528 -> However, they are completely camera controlled.
746.681 -> I’ll tell you about the ADAS features.
749.503 -> Firstly the ADAS is available only for the front and not for the rear.
753.662 -> And the features are very limited.
755.662 -> The camera-controlled ADAS does not work in all conditions.
760.4 -> Other cars offer cameras with radar.
764.234 -> So as in this car, it is just the camera,
766.826 -> The ADAS might not work the best in rain, fog, or even dark light conditions,
775.207 -> Which you expect from the camera plus radar-based ADAS.
778.602 -> It even has a feature where it pulls you back in your lane.
783.086 -> So you will not struggle with features at any given point of time.
787.4 -> Also, I forgot to mention a unique feature of the City.
791.693 -> It gets a rear sun blind.
797.247 -> Now the question is whether you should buy Honda City petrol/hybrid or not.
803.775 -> So guys should you buy the Honda City or not?
808.889 -> Let me first clarify that the diesel has now been discontinued.
812.302 -> Petrol and hybrid are the only options available.
817.168 -> So in terms of features and technology,
819.168 -> Honda City has always been an excellent package.
822.438 -> It gets some minimal upgrades like a wireless charging pad,
827.781 -> Wireless android auto and apple carplay,
829.705 -> Which are pretty useful.
835.736 -> So I feel even today the City is an excellent package.
840.124 -> But if you want features like ventilated seats or any other,
846.441 -> Then I would say go for other sedan or may other SUV.
854.134 -> But if you want a no-nonsense car that offers you a spacious and comfortable cabin,
859.21 -> With beautiful driving pleasure,
860.814 -> And offers a complete package,
862.76 -> Then in that case the Honda City clearly stands out.
866.27 -> Now the question comes,
867.621 -> Hybrid or Petrol?
869.214 -> So if you drive a lot,
872.112 -> Then in that case you can opt for the Hybrid.
874.972 -> Or else you will have to wait for many years to recover that cost.
879.36 -> Whereas the regular petrol City,
880.978 -> Be it the CVT or the manual,
883.188 -> Both are equally good for regular driving.
885.513 -> You will have no issues with fuel efficiency or performance.
890.608 -> So it makes a complete package.
894.096 -> Also, the advantage of ADAS on the Hybrid City,
897.893 -> Is now available with the petrol variant as well.
901.727 -> The only feature it misses out on is the electronic parking brake,
905.591 -> And according to me, it is not at all a deal breaker.
909 -> If you want more options for sedans then there is Hyundai Verna also coming up.
913.827 -> And if you are confused to buy a sedan or an SUV with too many options in both categories.
923.067 -> So in that case you can join me or my team of experts on a phone call,
930.359 -> And get all your doubts clarified.
932.493 -> Well, how’s that done?
