1.52 -> it's time for show-off Sunday, where
everyone has a chance to show off their
6.74 -> own car and here's this week's winner
the gt-r is somewhat of an old platform
20.07 -> it's been around over 10 years and
they've revamped it a little here and
24 -> there, and the 2017 model brought you
know a difference in the front fascia
30.91 -> and you know side skirts and the rear
end was changed just a little bit,
35.69 -> overall it's kind of surprising that
they're actually still selling this car
39.88 -> and one can be had for the Ransom of
around 120,000 dollars, one interesting
45.82 -> thing to note about the gt-r is it's
been kind of an anomaly with used car
51.17 -> values, when they came out you know
somewhat 10 years ago, you know they're
55.48 -> around $70,000 to get into one and over
the years the price has risen fairly
62 -> dramatically, where now you can actually get
a 2019 model for around $120,000, well as
67.7 -> they kept raising the prices of the
newer ones it elevated the used ones so
73.43 -> it was hard to find one less than
$55,000, the car is finished in regal red
79.24 -> and supposedly from Nissan it has a gold
actual real gold flake and was a $3,000
86.02 -> up charge, and it's a fairly rare color
there were only 180 US spec models with
91.079 -> this color, coming from a Toyota Supra
the interior is nice but I really
97.359 -> like the supra better it felt more
immersive
100.029 -> GTRs you know the r35 model were, they
felt kind of lacking in the interior and
112.649 -> I can appreciate the newer ones are
you know taking a further step by
116.579 -> actually putting a stitching with the
leather trim and the carbon-fiber
123.069 -> accents here and there, some of the
controls and some on the gauges, the one
129.861 -> thing I really like about this car is
the multifunction display, this display
134.63 -> was actually designed by Polyphony who
if I'm not mistaken does help design
140.72 -> the Gran Turismo, and it has quite a few
functions and features, so you go to your
146.05 -> boost gauge, fuel flow, a G meter, it's
customizable for a lot of different formats
153.11 -> and you can pretty much check any
parameter of the car's operating that
158.78 -> you'd like, and it also has this timer
which of course me personally on track
165.87 -> day I just kind of screw around and
don't really do anything constructive
170.91 -> but actually has a timer and then of
course your controls are right here on
175.27 -> the steering wheel, you can sit there and
start and stop and you can mark your
180.18 -> laps and something I've never used, but I
can see it being pretty useful for that
185.32 -> weekend road warrior, the interior is
fairly comfortable after all
190.38 -> nice little details, and one thing it's
kind of odd
193.93 -> there's actually a plastic emblem on the
floor mat, but it's got a nice stitching
200.08 -> and the interiors like I said not
necessarily my favorite, but it is nice
206.15 -> I'm not gonna lie, there is a back seat
but it's I don't know why it's here
210.691 -> honestly,
our kid he fits and I use fit loosely
231.21 -> one great feature about this car is the
launch control, using the launch control
235.76 -> you can normally a car in stock form, can
have a 0 to 60 acceleration from 2.9
242.35 -> seconds, and to activate the system you
go into r mode, so you set the
248.94 -> transmission, you don't necessarily have to
set the suspension but I do it anyway
253.22 -> and the traction control, and to operate
this you'll obviously find a great
259.469 -> straightaway, put your foot on the brake
floor the car, it'll bring up to
264.15 -> approximately 4000 rpm, drop the brake
and take off and the acceleration is
270.5 -> explosive, it's almost addictive and
definitely something that can get you in
275.53 -> trouble, but I do have a friend that has one
that's tuned to around a thousand
281.22 -> horsepower, and it just basically burns
the tires off, it's not useful at
285.96 -> all in the higher horsepower application
the car is equipped with a 3.8 liter
297.569 -> twin-turbo v6, and there's some pretty
cool details about it, pretty
301.84 -> cool-looking car fiber stiffener back
here, and the radiator core support is
307.19 -> actually made of carbon fiber, the older
GTRs or the earlier r35 gt-r only produce
313.9 -> about 480 horsepower and I
believe the 2017 Plus produced 565
333.319 -> one thing I really miss with this car is
the fact that it doesn't have a manual
338.06 -> gearbox, it was never offered in the r35
model, it has a dual clutch transmission
343.87 -> which is the first that I've ever had,
and I will say the shifts are precise
350.659 -> they're pretty crisp and it works well I
can't dispute, that but I just missed
358.699 -> that extra element of banging through
the gears, the car came stock with Brembo
363.919 -> brakes one thing about the car though is
maintenance at the dealership is pretty
369.37 -> expensive, just a simple oil change is
$250 and transmission and differential service
377.99 -> which has to be done every 15 to 20
thousand miles, is about two thousand
381.849 -> dollars,
fortunately for me on a pretty good DIYer
386.389 -> and can knock those out without issue,
the car is pretty much stock the only
390.339 -> thing I did was I changed out the mid
catalytic converters with just a stray
394.4 -> through mid pipe, put a meister shaft
catback exhaust
398.93 -> I put 2017 GTR OEM wheels on the car, and
I did put a carbon fiber front lip
407.259 -> my family and I'm were in Japan a few months
back and I was able to actually drive a
415.349 -> GTR r34 GTR for the day throughout
Tokyo and kind of around, and it was a
421.419 -> fantastic experience, it was basically
that Unicorn car I've always wanted and
426.21 -> unfortunately can't have here in the
United States
429.05 -> thanks for watching,
well that was this week's video and
430.05 -> remember to have your car video
highlighted here on my channel check
460.139 -> this out,
so if you never want to miss another one
465.629 -> of my new car repair videos, remember to
ring that Bell
