.33 -> The Ford F-150.
.13 -> It's not only the best-selling pickup in the United States,
.8 -> it's the best-selling vehicle overall.
.96 -> Ford sells between 700,000 to 900,000 units
.11 -> of the F-150 a year.
.82 -> Just last year, a total of 726,000 people decided,
.247 -> "Yup, this pickup is for me."
.95 -> And as the automotive world is running
.69 -> full speed towards electric cars,
.25 -> it makes complete sense to offer an electric version
.71 -> of the best-selling vehicle out there.
.75 -> The F-150 that I'm driving here today makes 580 horsepower,
.62 -> which is 130 more than the Raptor
.87 -> and 120 less than the upcoming Raptor R.
.23 -> It's quicker to 60 than the Raptor by a full second
.9 -> and I think it may even scare future buyers of the Raptor R.
.74 -> So let's just hit the gas.
.63 -> I mean, I just thought of a comment
.25 -> with somebody saying something like,
.367 -> "Oh, you said gas, but this is an electric vehicle."
.24 -> Either way, let's go.
.79 -> Oh, man.
.13 -> My name is Omar and this is the Ford F-150 Lightning.
.091 -> (gentle upbeat music)
.08 -> So, this is my first electric pickup experience
.05 -> and originally I thought I was going to absolutely hate it
.51 -> because pickups are supposed to have V8s,
.18 -> they're meant to tow and haul,
.71 -> and they're meant to be tough.
.51 -> Well, I was completely wrong
.89 -> because this is an outstanding experience.
.41 -> Not only is this faster than lightning,
.15 -> okay, that was corny,
.35 -> but it feels much easier to drive
.21 -> than a gasoline-powered pickup.
.83 -> Electric pickups are starting to become extremely popular.
.41 -> You have the Ford F-150 Lightning that I'm driving here.
.99 -> You also have the GMC Hummer EV and you have the Rivian R1T.
.4 -> Chevy's Silverado EV is on the way
.41 -> and Ram is working on their pickup, as well.
.69 -> And then the Tesla Cyber-when, who knows when that will come out?
.9 -> But what makes the Lightning here
.04 -> different from the rest of those
.21 -> is that this still feels like an F-150.
.31 -> Yes, it has a few differences
.87 -> that we'll go over in a few minutes,
.7 -> but at the end of the day,
.87 -> this still feels like an F-150, but electric.
.56 -> Now, I would love to tell you how this compares
.48 -> to the other electric pickups out there,
.19 -> but I can't speak to that
.33 -> since this is the first electric pickup that I'm driving.
.85 -> However, there are a few things that make the Lightning
.8 -> a little bit more special than the competition,
.9 -> and a little bit more special
.28 -> than the gasoline-powered F-150.
.96 -> So, should you consider buying one?
.94 -> Let's find out.
.96 -> Let me give you a quick tour of the F-150 Lightning.
.33 -> I'll show you all the cool and interesting features,
.49 -> we'll take a tour of the inside
.63 -> and we'll check out the outside,
.95 -> and then I'll give you my opinion on whether or not
.51 -> if you should buy the Lightning.
.8 -> Make sure you hit like.
.73 -> Make sure you hit subscribe.
.08 -> All right, let's do this.
.45 -> All right, so one thing that I like to do
.74 -> when it comes to reviewing electric cars
.39 -> is to break down all the power range
.28 -> and battery charge times
.45 -> so you know exactly what you're working with.
.25 -> And since there are so many different
.57 -> trims and batteries for the Lightning,
.8 -> let's take a look at all of them and the price tags.
.05 -> So here's what you're working with.
.1 -> The base Ford F-150 Lightning Pro
.2 -> starts right under $40,000
.88 -> and that's only available with the standard range battery.
.49 -> The XLT Lightning standard range starts right under $53,000
.693 -> and the extended range starts at $72,474.
.6 -> The Lariat Lightning starts at $67,474 for the standard
.99 -> and $77,474 for the extended.
.54 -> The platinum, which is only available
.1 -> with the extended range, starts at $90,874.
.09 -> Now, as for the competition,
.35 -> the cheapest GMC Hummer EV starts above $84,000,
.77 -> but you won't be able to get that until spring 2024.
.56 -> The Rivian R1T, originally it started at $67,500,
.83 -> but apparently they now start at $80,000.
.35 -> So yeah, even the extended range F-150 Lightning
.23 -> at around $72,000, seems like a pretty solid deal.
.47 -> Now, let's talk power, range, and charging,
.45 -> and I'm going to try to keep it simple
.01 -> so you're not running around your house
.12 -> screaming 1.21 gigawatts.
.4 -> All Lightning trims come standard with a dual-motor setup,
.8 -> so they all have four by four, which is pretty solid.
.08 -> The standard range makes a total of 452 horsepower
.14 -> and 775 lb-ft of torque,
.69 -> and on a full charge, it gets a total of 230 miles of range.
.41 -> The extended range makes 580 horsepower,
.11 -> but it gets the same amount of torque.
.58 -> Now, on a full charge the extended range XLT and Lariat
.88 -> get a total of 320 miles on a full charge,
.67 -> while the platinum extended range,
.08 -> it gets 300 due to the different wheels that it comes with.
.08 -> Comparing this to the competition,
.37 -> the extended range GMC Hummer EV gets around 329 miles,
-> while the Rivian R1T gets 314 miles.
.7 -> So, the F-150 Lightning falls right in the middle.
.4 -> Chevy, on the other hand,
.3 -> is estimating that it's Silverado EV
.07 -> will hit 400 miles of range, so we'll have to wait and see
.86 -> and see when the official figures come out.
.14 -> But yeah, the model that I'm testing here
.64 -> is the extended range for Lariat
.23 -> and this thing is impressively quick.
.15 -> 0 to 60 comes in at 4.2 seconds,
.61 -> making this quicker than the F-150 Raptor by a full second.
.08 -> However, on the flip side,
.19 -> it's also a full second slower than the GMC Hummer EV
.89 -> and the Rivian R1T.
.39 -> So, let's talk about how long
.65 -> it'll take you to charge this thing.
.91 -> Using a level two standard 240 mobile charger,
.82 -> you can go from 15 to 100%
.13 -> in 13 hours for the standard range
.29 -> and 19 hours for the extended.
.51 -> If you install the four charge station pro,
.4 -> those numbers get knocked down to 10 hours for the standard
.83 -> and eight hours for the extended.
.45 -> Now, if you're out and about,
.44 -> you can use a DC fast-charging station
.12 -> and you can charge up to 150 kilowatts.
.67 -> And if everything is going
.63 -> smooth and perfect in the world that day and you hit 150,
.06 -> you can charge the Lightning standard range
.13 -> from 15 to 80% in 44 minutes and extended in 41 minutes.
.45 -> And Ford says that DC fast-charging at 150
.73 -> will add 41 miles of range in 10 minutes
.19 -> for the standard range Lightning
.567 -> and 54 miles of range in 10 minutes for the extended range.
.54 -> All right, so now that we've got
.59 -> all the electric specs out of the way,
.21 -> let's talk about a few cool and interesting selling points
.46 -> of the Ford F-150 Lightning.
.38 -> And let's start off with the front trunk,
.97 -> AKA the frunk, or as Ford calls it, the Mega Power Frunk.
.69 -> In my opinion, this is one of the
.74 -> biggest selling points of the Lightning,
.27 -> or any other EV pickup.
.86 -> Truck buyers and owners have never had
.54 -> a large, closed-off storage space
.07 -> unless they bought a tonneau cover for the bed,
.84 -> so this is a huge plus.
.28 -> Now, there are many ways to access this frunk.
.65 -> The quickest and easiest way is to just use your keys,
.2 -> tap this button right here,
.52 -> and the frunk will dislatch and pop open.
.74 -> The other way is to use this button located right here
.93 -> on the inside showing the frunk open,
.94 -> and you can even pop it open using a button
.95 -> in the infotainment system.
.3 -> But just like a regular trunk,
.53 -> there is a button located on the front to pop it open.
.81 -> Right down here, closer to the driver's side,
.82 -> you'll find a button and when you push it,
.53 -> that will pop open the frunk on the Lightning.
.63 -> It takes a couple of seconds, but once you have it open,
.88 -> you're working with a total of 400 liters,
.92 -> or 14.1 cubic feet, of space,
.96 -> and it's actually pretty big.
.91 -> Now Ford says that this whole area
.35 -> has a maximum load capacity of 400 pounds,
.57 -> which is really impressive
.86 -> and you have these two graphics right here
.42 -> to remind you what you're working with.
.98 -> Ford also says that this front trunk is big enough
.2 -> to store two golf bags.
.49 -> And to bring that point home,
.63 -> they've added a graphic of two golf bags right here.
.39 -> Once you get digging around in here,
.68 -> you'll notice a few other interesting things
.54 -> about this mega power frunk.
.16 -> For one, you have some grocery bag hooks around here,
.07 -> which is important since things can slide around
.2 -> this wide open space.
.58 -> So that's pretty useful.
.54 -> You also have a net right here to hold some items in there.
.33 -> You can also lift up the floor in this frunk
.337 -> for some additional storage.
.75 -> And the cool thing here is that you can
.22 -> actually have a tailgate party, or in this case,
.47 -> a front-gate party, with your F-150 Lightning.
.44 -> Like the Ford Mach-E,
.46 -> you can fill this whole area right here up with ice
.92 -> to keep your drinks cold,
.94 -> because once the ice starts melting and becomes water,
-> it can escape right through this drain hole located there.
.03 -> Now over to the left side of the mega power frunk,
.4 -> you have some outlets.
.45 -> Flip it open and you get four household outlets
.39 -> and you also have a USB-A port and a USB-C port.
.81 -> This is very convenient for someone
.13 -> who's using the Lightning as their work truck
.66 -> and wants to make sure that all the power tools are charged
-> before they arrive at a job site,
.56 -> or you can just plug in appliances
.33 -> for your next front-gate party.
.49 -> But yeah, that's the frunk of the new Ford F-150 Lightning
.01 -> and it's extremely useful.
.09 -> Oh, by the way, if someone tries to kidnap you,
.85 -> there's a button right here to pop open the frunk
.15 -> so you can let yourself out.
.54 -> Not to mention, you can also hit this button right here
.7 -> to close the frunk once you're done getting out,
.71 -> in case you want to be nice after being kidnapped,
.38 -> which don't, I would just run.
-> Now, let's check out the bed of the Lightning
.68 -> and it's very similar to the one you get
.48 -> on the regular gas-powered F-150.
.61 -> You have a whole workspace area with rulers built right in.
.28 -> You have C-clamps if you want to
.66 -> clamp something down to cut,
.95 -> you have an area to stand up your cell phone,
.78 -> you have an area for your pens and pencils,
.37 -> and you even have some cup holders back here,
.07 -> so it's a nice place to hang out.
.6 -> You also have the whole tailgate step
.01 -> with a handle that pops out so you can grab on
.62 -> and get inside the bed a little easier.
.18 -> But yeah, it's pretty much F-150.
.77 -> That said, there is something in here
.12 -> that I haven't seen on other F-150s
.19 -> and it's called the onboard scale.
.93 -> It'll basically tell you how much weight
.43 -> you're carrying in the bed.
.63 -> Not only that, this will calculate your estimated range
.33 -> based on how much stuff you're carrying in the back,
.31 -> so that's pretty cool.
.3 -> Keep in mind, the Lightning has
.65 -> a max payload capacity of 2,235 pounds,
.13 -> which is about 1,000 pounds more than
.84 -> the GMC Hummer EV and Silverado EV,
.45 -> and about 475 pounds more than the Rivian R1T.
.17 -> So yeah, the Lightning wins the payload game.
.85 -> Not to mention, Ford quotes
.2 -> the estimated range of the Lightning based on
.87 -> having 1,000 pounds of payload in the back,
.24 -> which is required by EPA regulations,
.89 -> so this is probably capable of more.
.9 -> Now, another interesting thing to note about the back
-> is that you have some outlets in the bed
.38 -> as a part of the whole Ford power pro onboard,
.23 -> or Ford pro power onboard, I don't know how you say it.
.69 -> You've got two outlets right here
.13 -> and two outlets right here,
.42 -> and you also have another 240-volt outlet
.27 -> that will allow you to charge another EV.
.61 -> Ford says that with the optional 9.6 or 7.2 kilowatt
.91 -> pro power onboard system
.32 -> and using the Ford mobile power cord,
.48 -> the Lightning can deliver level two charging
.28 -> that can charge another electric car.
.93 -> According to Ford,
.8 -> it can add an estimated 20 miles per charging hour
.08 -> to the Mustang Mach-E
.46 -> and you can even charge another Lightning
.08 -> where it will add 13 miles per charging hour,
.63 -> so that's pretty cool.
.04 -> But it gets much better.
.36 -> Not only can you charge another EV with the F-150 Lightning,
.12 -> but you can actually use this truck
.62 -> to power your whole entire house.
.17 -> Yes, this thing is basically a giant electric generator
.81 -> and not to mention, the Lightning is the only EV pickup
.42 -> capable of doing this.
.8 -> The Lightning extended range battery system
.54 -> that I'm driving here
.373 -> can store 131 kilowatts of energy
.99 -> and deliver up to 9.6 kilowatts of power.
.84 -> And with the Ford intelligent backup power
.64 -> and the home integration system,
.96 -> which you'll have to get installed for all this to work,
.45 -> you can power your house.
.8 -> But once it's all set up,
.97 -> you can use your house to charge your Lightning.
.83 -> But if your power goes out,
.15 -> the Lightning kicks into action
.62 -> and starts powering your house.
-> How crazy is that?
.08 -> Ford says that on average,
.13 -> a U.S. home uses 30 kilowatts of power per day,
.44 -> meaning the F-150 Lightning with the extended range battery
.17 -> can provide full-home power for up to three days,
.63 -> or for as long as 10 days, depending on your usage.
.36 -> Now let's get inside and check out
.5 -> the interior of the Lightning
.64 -> and while everything looks essentially the same
.44 -> as a regular F-150,
.61 -> the thing that sticks out the most is this giant screen.
.49 -> This is the same 15.5-inch touchscreen display
.68 -> that you'll find in the Mach-E,
.91 -> but it's not standard here on the Lightning.
.68 -> If you go for the lower trims of the Lightning,
.39 -> you'll get a regular 12-inch display
.07 -> like you do on other F-150 models,
.75 -> but if you go for the higher trims, you'll get this one.
.7 -> I will say that this 15.5-inch screen
.68 -> looks better here than on the Mach-E.
.78 -> I always felt it looked a little too big for the Mach-E.
.24 -> Now it goes with that saying
.11 -> that you have all the cool stuff;
.28 -> you have wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto.
.53 -> You also have navigation built right in here,
.21 -> so you can find the closest charging station to you.
.52 -> Oh, and check this out.
.353 -> You can also play a little game called Lane Change
.22 -> if you get bored while sitting at a charging station.
.41 -> Now I'm not going to dive too deep in here,
.18 -> but let's take a look at some specific Lightning settings
.52 -> that you can control from here.
.93 -> So when I tap this Lightning icon right here,
.7 -> all the settings and things drop down,
.23 -> and first you have your drive modes.
.55 -> You've got normal, sport, off-road, tow, and haul.
.25 -> And from here, you can also activate and deactivate
.32 -> your one-pedal drive and turn on your locking differential.
.53 -> Obviously, this is not a real locking differential,
.54 -> it's just an electronic one.
.01 -> Next up, you have a bunch of cameras
.84 -> that you can go through over here.
.83 -> This is your 360 camera.
.48 -> That's my front-view camera right now,
.92 -> but you can change that to your rear-view camera.
.56 -> You can change that to your tow hitch camera
.26 -> and you can also take a look at what's going on in the bed.
.9 -> Next up, you have a screen where you can set up your towing
.91 -> and depending on the range options and the trim you get,
.09 -> you have a max towing capacity
.32 -> of 10,000 pounds in the Lightning.
.24 -> And then you have a screen
.073 -> where you can set up your smart hitch.
-> Let me tap that again. Continue.
.04 -> And yeah, you can go through and do a quick setup
.02 -> and it'll guide you how to set up your hitch.
.85 -> Then you have the screen for your onboard skills,
.62 -> which I showed you earlier,
.67 -> where you can just see how much weight is in
.53 -> the bed of your F-150 Lightning
.02 -> and how it's affecting your range.
.55 -> And just like the regular F-150, the gasoline one,
.98 -> you have zone lighting, where you can go in and activate
.87 -> a bunch of LED lights that are around the F-150 Lightning,
.74 -> and they come in handy when it's dark outside
.66 -> and you're at a campsite or a job site.
.52 -> And then you have your pro power onboard screen,
.26 -> where you can see how much each outlet
.88 -> in your F-150 Lightning, how much power it's using.
.43 -> And you can also set a power reserve
.53 -> and it'll turn off all the power,
.09 -> say if I set it at 125 miles,
.52 -> if my range hits 125 miles, all the outlets will turn off.
.34 -> And then you have your parking screen,
.57 -> where you can go in and navigate to a parking spot,
.97 -> or you can have the F-150 Lightning
.19 -> park itself automatically,
.42 -> and you have a bunch of different angles
.82 -> and directions it can go in.
.93 -> That's pretty cool.
.77 -> And then you have your intelligent backup power screen,
.93 -> which is the feature that I showed you earlier,
.31 -> where the F-150 Lightning can power
.08 -> your whole house for up to three days.
.76 -> So you can do all your setup over here.
.41 -> And then really quick,
.243 -> you can hop into settings and from here
.02 -> you can set up your sound, your audio, your phone.
.97 -> You can go through and set up your charging
.59 -> for your F-150 Lightning.
.79 -> You can do a one-time max charge limit.
.65 -> You can set up your departure and comfort
.06 -> and your charging locations from right here.
.01 -> And then driver assistance-wise,
.39 -> you have your Ford co-pilot 360,
.52 -> where you have blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist,
.95 -> adaptive cruise control, and you could also get BlueCruise,
.77 -> which gives you actual hands-free driving
.6 -> while you keep your eyes on the road,
.83 -> which is awesome because you don't have to keep
.42 -> nudging the steering wheel
.41 -> to let it know that you're still there,
.58 -> you just have to look straight.
.87 -> And then yeah, you have a bunch of your vehicle settings,
.82 -> your general settings, display settings, your clock,
.19 -> et cetera, et cetera.
.06 -> And then you have your ambient lighting setting
.37 -> and you only have one color,
.54 -> unlike the Mach-E, where you have a bunch of colors;
.43 -> you just have one regular Ford green color
.98 -> in the F-150 Lightning.
.3 -> Now, at the bottom part of the screen
.71 -> are all your climate settings.
.06 -> Heated and cooled seats are optional
.56 -> depending on which trim you go for,
.45 -> so are heated rear seats for the rear passengers,
.03 -> as well as a heated steering wheel.
.35 -> All of that is optional.
.52 -> Now the other cool tech that you have in here
.99 -> is this digital gauge cluster display.
.7 -> It's actually very sharp and very, very informative.
.28 -> Although I do miss the cool drive-mode animations
.62 -> that you have on the gasoline F-150,
.63 -> for some reason, the Lightning doesn't get that.
.4 -> That said, comfort-wise,
.33 -> this interior is a very nice place to be.
.34 -> First up, I wanna point out that the Lightning
.84 -> comes standard with a folding gear shift,
.73 -> which yeah, is a gimmick, but a very useful gimmick,
.13 -> since after folding it, you can flip over the center console
.07 -> and use it as a table to get some work done or have a meal.
.95 -> Now, the seats on my test model specifically
.69 -> are very plush and very soft,
.01 -> so you should have no problem driving
.75 -> and driving until your battery runs out.
.46 -> The base, base pro trim gets cloth seats
.74 -> that are manually adjustable.
.82 -> The XLT also gets cloth seats,
.92 -> but they can be upgraded to power adjustable.
.02 -> The Lariat that I'm testing here
.31 -> gets leather-trimmed ten-way power adjustable seats
.65 -> and they are heated and cooled as standard.
.29 -> The platinum gets the same,
.34 -> but the leather there is definitely better
.11 -> than the one on the Lariat.
.1 -> Now, if you like a giant panoramic sun roof
.2 -> like the one you see here,
.033 -> you can only get it if you go for
.69 -> the extended range Lariat or Platinum.
.06 -> No other Lightning trim gets a sunroof option.
.7 -> Sound system-wise, the Lariat that I'm testing here
.56 -> gets an eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system,
.02 -> while the Platinum gets an 18-speaker
.12 -> Bang & Olufsen sound system.
.53 -> But the eight-speaker system
.55 -> that I've listened to here is really solid.
.44 -> Not bad at all.
.273 -> But yeah, overall, it's pretty comfortable in here.
.96 -> I just don't feel like this interior feels like something
.39 -> that belongs in an $80,000 truck like my test model here.
.32 -> Now let's check out the rear leg room in the Lightning.
.33 -> Just like the regular F-150,
.89 -> you have a massive 44 inches of leg room back here.
.98 -> I'm about six foot tall; that's my seating position.
.87 -> As you can see, I've got tons of room.
.09 -> You can literally sell your house
.92 -> and move into the Lightning.
.417 -> And just like the regular F-150,
.16 -> you have some storage right here underneath the seats
.02 -> to store some items that you don't want being seen.
.45 -> But you have a frunk now, so that doesn't really matter.
.58 -> And you also have some other storage too,
.96 -> like this crazy amounts of space
-> right here in this center armrest.
.38 -> You have a dual glove box setup.
.64 -> One is a regular glove box and right above that,
.47 -> you have another one to store some smaller items.
.87 -> Now let's quickly talk about the exterior design.
.64 -> I personally like the looks of the Lightning,
.41 -> and that could simply be due to the fact
.21 -> that I have a thing for EVs that don't look like EVs.
.48 -> At the end of the day, this just looks like a regular pickup
.15 -> and like a regular F-150.
.77 -> Now you do have some design touches that set it apart
.08 -> from the gasoline version.
.37 -> Up front, you have a closed-off grill
.87 -> since there's no engine that needs to be cooled.
.97 -> And I have to say,
.803 -> Ford did a great job with this textured look right here.
.06 -> My Lariat test model has a flat look and feel,
.28 -> but if you go for the Platinum,
.51 -> that gets a black shiny chrome version of this grill.
.94 -> The other major update on the Lightning
.59 -> is this signature light bar that spans the width of the hood
.02 -> and connects to the two headlamps.
.76 -> By the way, this light bar is only on
.56 -> the Lightning XLT trims and above,
.69 -> so if you go for the base pro model,
.58 -> that will actually look even more like
.56 -> a gasoline-powered F-150.
.3 -> Swing over to the back
.35 -> and I really like the looks back here.
.58 -> Usually, pickups aren't all that distinctive in the back,
.22 -> but this light bar here
.12 -> that spans the width of the Lightning looks really cool.
.82 -> But again, this time the light bar on the back
.83 -> is only on the Lariat and Platinum.
.78 -> If you go for the pro and XLT,
.7 -> they just get regular F-150 lights.
.95 -> As for the wheel game,
.82 -> the pro and the XLT get 18-inch wheels,
.16 -> the Lariat that I'm testing here gets 20-inch wheels
.26 -> that look pretty cool, I'm not that crazy about them,
.14 -> and then the Platinum gets massive 22-inch wheels
.39 -> that knock down the range of it by 20 miles.
.64 -> That's it.
.473 -> Keep in mind, if you want the Lightning,
.41 -> you can only get it with four doors
.85 -> with a five-and-a-half-foot bed.
.08 -> This is the only body style
.43 -> that it's currently available in.
.96 -> It is crazy hot outside today, but I finally made it here.
.42 -> Now, before I give you my opinion
.59 -> on how the Lightning drives,
.67 -> let me point at a few important daily ownership highlights
.31 -> that I love to show all of you guys.
.45 -> You have six cup holders; two in the front right there,
.24 -> and then you have two right here
.19 -> behind the center armrest right there,
.65 -> and then you have two in the center armrest in the back.
.17 -> Here are what the keys look like to the Lightning.
.58 -> You don't have remote start
.45 -> so you can use the FordPass app to start it up,
.67 -> but you do have a button to pop open your frunk
.8 -> and you do have a button to pop open your tailgate.
.43 -> Pretty cool.
.263 -> And you can also close them from the remote.
.14 -> Pretty convenient. Come on.
.6 -> Both the frunk and the tailgate are now closed.
.67 -> Door open and close sound from the outside.
.847 -> (door slams)
.78 -> And from the inside.
.106 -> (door slams)
.939 -> Solid.
.772 -> Charging game-wise, depending on the model you go for,
.44 -> you have a USB-C port, a USB-A port,
.15 -> and a wireless charger right there.
.44 -> You've also got a USB-C and a USB-A port
.3 -> right here in the center armrest.
.68 -> Above that, you have a cigarette lighter charger
.09 -> and a AC 120-volt outlet right there.
.13 -> Rear passengers get a cigarette lighter charger,
.79 -> a USB-C port, a USB-A port,
.52 -> and a AC 120-volt outlet right there.
.59 -> Time for an indicator and horn sound test.
.33 -> Indicator first.
.51 -> (indicator clicking)
.96 -> Same old Ford indicator.
.46 -> Now for the horn sound.
.874 -> (horn beeps)
.31 -> That's solid. (horn beeps)
.72 -> Very nice.
.92 -> Let's do a quick rolling acceleration test.
.03 -> My God, this thing is quick.
.67 -> My 0 to 60 test returned a time of 4.2 seconds,
.88 -> which again, makes this quicker than the F-150 Raptor
.33 -> that's out right now, the toughest F-150 of them all.
.51 -> So how does this thing drive?
.07 -> Well, pretty much like a gasoline-powered F-150.
.62 -> You see, the reason that Ford is able to offer this
.75 -> at the price they can and as quickly as they can
.36 -> is because this is still an F-150 at the end of the day.
.18 -> Besides being fully electric,
.5 -> the other major difference between this and a gasoline F-150
.25 -> is that this gets an independent rear suspension,
.04 -> and that helps this drive smoother
.45 -> and offers you a little bit more comfortable ride quality.
.24 -> Other than that, this is still a body-on-frame pickup,
.73 -> so you still have some jiggles over bumps
.58 -> and you'll still feel the little bit of a floatiness
.56 -> that you have when you drive a pickup truck.
.48 -> Not to mention, this thing is pretty heavy,
.31 -> obviously, weighing in at just under 7,000 pounds.
.25 -> However, I have to say that
.36 -> you really don't feel the added weight
.65 -> because the dual motors are pumping out
.36 -> more than enough power to combat that.
.37 -> Now, I didn't go do any real-world range test,
.74 -> I just checked my range at the end of each day,
.78 -> and I have to say that this thing
.83 -> hangs onto the charge really well,
.33 -> even in the 100 plus degree weather
.4 -> that we've been having here in the Northeast.
.29 -> But yeah, back to the ride quality for a few seconds.
.36 -> Handling-wise, it handles like a pickup would.
.97 -> It isn't sharp by any means,
.11 -> but I feel like it does feel a bit more direct
.84 -> than the gasoline F-150
.4 -> and the brakes are actually really impressive, as well.
.35 -> They don't feel too fadish
.7 -> like they do on other electric vehicles.
.68 -> It's really weird how good these brakes are,
.29 -> considering that this is a 7,000 pound truck.
.78 -> But yeah, honestly, I'm really impressed
.55 -> with the ride quality
.39 -> and the driving dynamics of the Lightning.
.22 -> It's definitely not what I was expecting at all.
.49 -> You know, one of the things
.323 -> that I like most about the Lightning
.62 -> is that this is an electric version
.24 -> of just a regular ice vehicle.
.46 -> Ford didn't go crazy with the design and try to make it
.01 -> look like something out of a sci-fi movie.
.9 -> They didn't take away the capability altogether.
.06 -> You can still tow 10,000 pounds
.77 -> and still carry over 2,200 pounds,
.5 -> but this is everything that a pickup should,
.02 -> and the electric vehicle part of it just makes it better.
.78 -> The frunk is awesome and it's very useful,
.97 -> and the whole using this as a generator to power your house
.79 -> is really next level.
.72 -> And again, the Lightning is the only
.64 -> electric truck that can do that.
.44 -> That said, the Lightning isn't without flaws.
.51 -> While the base model is pretty affordable,
.16 -> starting at around $40,000, as you move up trim levels,
.55 -> the quality doesn't really change that much.
.68 -> The Lariat extended range that I'm driving here
.69 -> starts at over $77,000
.79 -> and parts of this interior just don't feel like
.03 -> they belong in something of that price tag.
.01 -> Now, I'm pretty sure that the Lightning Platinum is better
.02 -> when it comes to the interior quality and materials,
.27 -> but that starts at over $90,000.
-> The max range of 320 miles is nice,
.13 -> but again, that comes at a price,
.42 -> and that range is pretty similar
.65 -> to the GMC Hummer EV and the Rivian R1T,
.71 -> so I don't have any issues there.
.34 -> But that base model doing 230 miles on a full charge
.4 -> just doesn't seem enough.
.08 -> Now I'm sure Ford will fix those things over time
.57 -> and make the Lightning better and better.
.31 -> Nonetheless, at the same time,
.66 -> this is the most affordable electric pickup
.06 -> that you can buy today.
.32 -> Again, I keep saying this,
.43 -> one of the best things about the Lightning
.81 -> is that it feels like an F-150.
.88 -> Now, when I test the GMC Hummer EV,
.1 -> I hope it feels something like the GMC Sierra.
.41 -> When I test the Rivian R1T,
-> I hope it really feels like a pickup.
.13 -> If you're a current F-150 owner interested in a new one,
.55 -> definitely check out the Lightning.
.08 -> And if you're in the market for a large electric vehicle,
.24 -> I would definitely recommend test driving the Lightning
.82 -> to see if it fits what you're looking for.
.52 -> And hey, if you want to embarrass Raptor owners,
.77 -> go and get yourself a Lightning right now,
.05 -> 'cause it's awesome.
.07 -> Either way, thanks for watching.
.84 -> Make sure you hit like.
.77 -> Make sure you hit subscribe.
.15 -> Make sure you follow me on Instagram and on TikTok.
.46 -> My handle is @omardrives.
.65 -> I'll catch you guys on the next one.
.72 -> Take care. Peace.
.78 -> This thing is insanely fast
.9 -> and the brakes are extremely good.
.82 -> By the way, I have to say BlueCruise, absolutely awesome.
.91 -> No hands at all, you just have to look straight,
.98 -> don't touch the steering wheel.
.94 -> I went for a really long drive in this thing
.04 -> and I didn't have to touch the steering wheel at all.
.47 -> Just have to look straight. No hands, no hands at all.
.46 -> Look at me go. Wow!
.97 -> The F-150 Lightning is lightning quick
.57 -> and I'm lightning corny.
.28 -> I just saw a Raptor on the road and he gave me a thumbs up
.88 -> and I gave him a thumbs down because I can beat him.
.57 -> Is that mean?
